SLAUGHTER LAMBS
Weekly Trends: Compared to last week heavy slaughter lambs were
steady to 10.00 lower; light slaughter lambs were sharply lower.
Slaughter ewes were steady to 10.00 lower, instances 20.00 lower.
Feeder lambs were steady. At San Angelo, TX 3778 head sold in a one day
sale. No sales in Equity Electronic Auction. All sheep sold per
hundredweight (CWT) unless otherwise specified.

Feeder Lambs: Trading at a standstill this week. Supplies of feeder lambs remain very

April 20, 2012 showed 15,621 pelts consisting of 43.91% wooled, 42.51% Fall Shorn No. 1, 13.58% No. 2, and 0% 3 & 4.
Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was moderate. There was 438,400 lbs of
confirmed sales this week. Demand moderate to good. Early Texas wools are coming in
2-3 percent heavier than last year and a little shorter. All prices reported on a
weighted average. Domestic clean wool, confirmed trades, and reported on a weighted
average basis. Prices reflect trades FOB warehouse in original bag or square pack,
bellies out, some graded, and 76 mm or longer. No allowance made for coring, freight
or handling fees at the warehouse level to reflect net grower prices (*) indicates new
prices this week. (NA) represents microns not normally available in this region.
Wools shorter than 75 mm typically discounted .10-.20 clean. Classed and skirted
wools usually trade at a .10-.20 premium to original bag prices.

confirmed sales this week. All prices reported on a weighted average. Territory

The FSA effective LDP rate for wool is unchanged at .00 per pound.
The FSA effective LDP rate for mohair is unchanged at .00 per pound.
In Australia this week the Eastern Market Indicator was down 26 at 1165 cents per
Kg clean from two weeks ago. A total of 55,594 bales were offered with sales of 84.6
percent. The Australian exchange rate was weaker by .0075 at 1.0658 percent of the
U.S. dollar. The sale next week has a total offering of 41,616 bales.
Australian wool prices are quoted delivered Charleston, South Carolina. The
current freight rate is .15 cents per pound clean. Schlumberger Dry formula is used
for yield determination.
The 75-80 percent of Australia price range can be used as an estimated value of
clean prices FOB the warehouse and gross producer. These are estimated domestic
values and may vary depending on current market conditions, yield, strength, length,
colored fiber content, poly contamination, and other quality factors.
