What is a Campus Account?
Your Campus Account provides access, using a
single user ID and password, to the PC Suites,
Email & Office 365 Apps*, WiFi, Blackboard,
Library Systems, Self-Service Registration,
MyCampus, Placement, Exam timetables and Exam
results.
Blackboard is the University’s Virtual Learning
Environment (VLE). The VLE provides a medium
for supporting teaching and learning activities,
including assessment and examination.
You must activate your Campus Account before
you can use it.
Your Blackboard account will be available for login
24 hours after you have r egister ed for your cour se.

What is your Campus Account Username (UserID)?
Quick Start Guide for New Students
How to access IT Services
Blackboard
User ID is your current Registration/Student ID
number. This ID is used to access all services except
student email (Office 365). Your student email
username is your NUI Galway email address. Go to
CASS (https://cass.nuigalway.ie) to get your
student email address.
Get started by activating your Campus Account
1. Go online to CASS (https://cass.nuigalway.ie/)
2. Log in using the following credentials:

You
can
now
access
Blackboard
(https://nuigalway.blackboard.com/)and login with
your Campus Account details.
Courses and Modules
Note: You can access your Blackboard account 24hours after your have registered for your course.
WiFi and Eduroam
You can use the WiFi to connect to the on campus
network service. Simply login with your Campus
Account details.
3. Complete the activation questions.
4. Choose your new Campus Account Password.
Note: Password must be at least 8 characters in
length.
Your Campus Account is now active.
*Your student email username is your NUI
Galway email address.
You can use the Eduroam service to get connected
and stay connected on campus. Eduroam is widely
available in Irish and UK third level institutions. See
the ISS Website for more information. Search
‘Eduroam NUI Galway’.
1. Select Eduroam from the available WiFi networks
and click Connect.
2. Enter <userid>@uds.nuigalway.ie and your
Campus Account password. Replace ‘userid’ with
your Campus Account username, i.e.
12345678@uds.nuigalway.ie.
3. Accept and connect when prompt by a security
certificate message.
Note: You will only have to enter this information
once.
Student Email and Office365 Apps
Printing
Advice and Support
1. If you haven’t already activated your Campus
Account go to CASS (https://cass.nuigalway.ie) and
activate your account. While in CASS, take note of
your NUI Galway email address; this is your email
username.
You can print, copy and scan documents at any Multi
-Function Printer (MFP) that is located throughout
the campus including PC Suites and the Library. You
have the option to print in Colour or Black & White.
There is a charge for printing. See the ISS Website
for more information.
Advice and support on how to use IT services are
available from the Library & IT Service Desk. The
Service Desk is located in the foyer of the James
Hardiman Library. We recommend visiting the ISS
website (http://www.nuigalway.ie/iss4students) for
advice and information on services provided in
advance of raising a support request.
How do I Print?
PC Suites
2. Go to http://studentmail.nuigalway.ie/ and sign in
using your NUI Galway email address and your
Campus Account password.
The following print queues are installed on PC Suite
Desktops:
BW_Release
Colour_Release
The print jobs are submitted to a release queue and
you must visit any MFP to release and print your job.
As MFPs are located around the campus, you can
release print jobs from a variety of locations. Your
print job will be available up to 24 hours after the job
was submitted.
In addition, please visit the Library & IT Service
Desk Facebook page (James Hardiman Library, NUI
Galway) for the latest service status information.
How do I raise a support request?
1. Log in to the Service Ticketing System (https://
servicedesk.nuigalway.ie) and log a ticket.
2. Send an email to servicedesk@nuigalway.ie.
3. Drop in to the Library & IT Service Desk located
in the James Hardiman Library (Ground Floor).
4. Phone the Service Desk on (091) 495777.
Wireless Printing (IPad, Tablet and Phone)
You need to install a wireless print package to use
this service. This package is available for download
from the ISS webpages – search wireless printing
NUI Galway.
Email Printing/Scan to Email
Send an email including the document you want to
print either to bwprint@nuigalway.ie (for Black &
White printing) or colourprint@nuigalway.ie (for
Colour printing). Visit any MFP to release and print
your document.
You may also scan a document at any of the print
release stations.
Note: Your NUI Galway email account is hosted by
Microsoft on Office365.
To purchase Print Credit
You can purchase print credit online (https://
printcredit.nuigalway.ie/) or at a Kiosk.
