Give us eyes of hope to see the good in everything and everyone around us. Give us the grace and strength to be beacons of hope and light for all who enter this school. Let all who visit share our hope that this school will remain a safe, caring, inclusive community. May your virtue of hope guide our decisions for the service of all your people. We ask this in name of Jesus, your Son, who lived to show us your way. Amen People of Hope… ● ● ● ● ● ● Keep up a positive attitude Can bounce back from tough situations Set and stick to their goals See the good in others even when they make mistakes Work to include others Let others know that they are good people PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE As we reflect on this joyful season and the true meaning of Christmas, we would like to thank the parents, volunteers, Trustee, Luz Del Rosario and Superintendent, C. Saytar for giving so much to the students and staff during this first term. We are truly grateful for your commitment to our community and for giving so openly to those in need during this holiday season. ANGELS ON THE TREE (Outreach Program) What can you do to help families in our community enjoy the Spirit of Christmas? Here’s how you can help………. choose a tag from our Christmas tree with the age and gender of a child bring in an unwrapped gift or gift certificate to the school by Tuesday, December 7 receive an angel with your family name to hang on our tree WARM WINTER CLOTHING The cold weather has arrived and with it, the necessity for students to wear warm clothing when playing outside (mittens, scarves, hats, boots, etc.). It would be helpful if items were labeled as many items get misplaced over the course of the winter. It is also important that students have indoor shoes e.g. running shoes to wear. Students can keep these at school and change into them when they arrive. Unless weather conditions are extreme, students will go outside during recesses for some much needed fresh air and need to be dressed warmly. We obtain our temperature information from Environment Canada and follow Board guidelines when making decisions to limit the amount of outdoor play during a given day. SAFE STUDENT PICK-UP THE MITTEN TREE We invite children and their families to decorate the tree with new mittens, scarves, hats & socks. We will give the proceeds to St. Martin of Tours Church to help less fortunate boys and girls keep warm this winter. You will find “Our Mitten Tree” in the front foyer of the school beginning the first week of Advent. All items will be delivered to the parish on December 13, to be included in the Christmas baskets. Please use the Kiss and Ride lane when picking your child up from school. We have noticed that some students are crossing Beacon Lane to meet up with a parent waiting in a car. This can be dangerous as cars are travelling in both directions. Students walking home should be using the sidewalks and walking paths. There is a crossing guard on Rathburn Road and lights at Perivale and Rathburn Road. Beacon Lane is a “No Stopping” Zone. Our Dragon Boys played the games of their lives, showing off some spectacular skills during the round robin en route to a perfect 6 and 0 record to finish number one in their division. The semi-finals was a challenging match as our boys eased up their offensive play letting eventual champion St. Therese steal their thunder. Hold your head up high boys as third out of nearly 120 schools isn’t too shabby either? Don’t forget, the referee felt compelled to come to us to express his feeling that when we were on our offensive play, we were the team to beat? The coaches are proud of your hard work and results…so much so that Mr. Lagac is sporting a new look to partially honour his promise if you prevailed! Well done! STUDENT PUNCTUALITY ATTENDANCE & It is important for students to be at school on time and ready to work. When students are late they miss important information and routines.
