Dear God,
You have done such a marvelous job of creating
us and the world around us. Among your
greatest gifts are our friends and acquaintances.
They are the yeast in the dough of life – they
make life lively and interesting.
We come to You now asking for the grace and
strength to keep a sense of respect. We hope
that by recognizing and honouring the shared Spirit
in everyone we meet, we can contribute to
making our school a safer, more caring, more
inclusive community.
May Your gift of respect help us to live each day
with the confidence that we are in the company of
people who are not strangers but who are our
spiritual brothers and sisters.
We ask this in the name of Jesus our Brother,
who lived to show us your way.
Amen.

medicine, art, culture, public service, economic development, politics and

Eco News
Since 2010, over a million Canadians have
participated in National Sweater Day at their
schools, workplaces and homes.
Family Day
This is a reminder to parents that Monday,
February 16, 2015 is designated as Family Day.
There will be no classes for students on that day.
National Sweater Day is a fun way about the
importance of saving energy and to inspire us to
use less heat all winter. Heating accounts for 80%
of residential energy use in Canada and is a
significant source of emissions. If all Canadians
lowered their thermostats by just 2 degrees
Celsius this winter, it would reduce greenhouse
emissions by about 4 megatons - that’s equivalent
to shutting down a 600 mega watt coal-fired
power station or taking nearly 700,000 cars off
the road!
March Break
Our break this year takes place from March 14th to
March 18th. Classes will resume on Monday,
March 21st.
Holy Week/Easter
This year Holy Week begins on Monday, March
21st. We will have a Stations Of The Cross Liturgy
on Thursday, March 24th. There will be no classes
on Good Friday, March 25th and Easter Monday,
March 28th.
Sweater Day is a fun way for classrooms to get
involved in the conversation about climate
change. National Sweater Day happens once a
year, so let’s make it count!
Additional Professional Activity Day: Monday,
April 11, 2016
Terms of the recent contract settlement between
the teacher federations and the Ministry of
Education included the provision of an additional
Professional Activity Day for the 2015-2016 school
year for both elementary and secondary schools.
Recently, boards were directed to schedule this
additional Professional Development Day on or
before April 15, 2016.
In the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School
Board, the designated additional Professional
Activity Day has been scheduled for Monday,
April 11, 2016.
Therefore, there will be no classes for either
elementary or secondary students on Monday,
April 11, 2016.
Thank you for your attention to this addition to the
2015-16 School Year Calendar.
Pink Shirt Day
On February 24, 2016 we encourage everyone to
practice kindness, and wear a pink shirt, button,
or pin to symbolize that you do not tolerate
bullying. Pink Shirt Day has its roots in Nova
Scotia, started by two incredible high school
students. The students and their teenage friends
organized a high-school protest to wear pink in
sympathy with a Grade 9 boy who was being
bullied for wearing a pink shirt. They took a stand
against bullying when they protested against the
harassment of a new Grade 9 student by
distributing pink T-shirts to all the boys in their
school. Please join us by wearing pink on
February 24, 2016 and make an effort to practice
kindness and acceptance towards both yourself
and others.
