As we imagine those surroundings, we join with the shepherds and the wise men in wonder and praise. We thank you for our material lives, praise you for our spiritual lives, and trust in you for our eternal life. Amen. Giving Tree Project Are you an angel of giving? It’s that time of year again when we look to our community to support our Giving Tree Project. We are asking for donations of gift cards. Last year through your generous support we raised approximately $900. Let’s try to aim even higher this year! Remember to hand in gift cards to your child’s teacher by December 11th. Thank You. Virtue of the Month: Hope Life is a constant Advent Season: We are continually waiting to become, to discover, to complete, and to fulfill. Hope, struggle, fear, expectation and fulfillment are all part of our Advent experience. The world is not as just, not as loving, not as whole as we know it can and should be. But, by choosing to live our lives according to the example of Mary, we will hear God’s call to wait patiently for the emergence of the light of hope that can shatter our darkness, liberate us from our fears and reassure us that we are never alone or abandoned. May this Advent season be the time for bringing hope, transformation and fulfillment into the Advent of our lives? Toothy Tips for Parents Current information on dental health in Peel indicates that more than 1 in 3 children have been affected by cavities. Cavities can lead to infections in the mouth, pain, poor eating habits, speech problems and expensive dental treatment. Parents can play an important role in helping to give their child a healthy smile. Here are some tips for you and your children: 1. Have your children brush their teeth two times a day for at least two minutes each time. The most important time to brush is before bed time. Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT) Program If you can’t afford to take your child to the dentist, you can bring them to a Peel Public Health dental screening clinic for a free dental screening. You may qualify for dental care through the CINOT program if you meet eligibility criteria. For more information, or to book a dental screening appointment, call Peel Public Health at 905-799-7700. Pediculosis (Head Lice) Pediculosis, or head lice are a common occurrence in schools. Head lice are parasites which have been common among human beings for centuries. They are not connected with dirt and neglect. Anyone can be infested with them. Please check your children frequently and if you find them infested, we would ask that you let us know so we can advise you on the proper treatment. If a child does become infested, we will ask you to keep your child out of school until he/she has been treated with the correct medicated shampoo and his/her hair is entirely clear of both lice and nits (eggs). When the child returns to school, the child needs to come to the office to be checked before going to class. If we all cooperate in these procedures we can address these occurrences in a sensitive manner. We may not entirely escape outbreaks, but we will be able to bring them under control Kindergarten Entry Planning for Sept. 2014 Optional Extended Day Program and Before/After School Child Care for 6-12 year olds.
