STUDENTS COMPETE TO JOIN UH’S CHILI COOK-OFF TEAM AND BEAT RICE
Houston, September 27, 2011 – Put your culinary
skills to the test and compete to join UH’s chili
cook-off team. UH Executive Chef Brent Gorman
is building his team and looking for strong student
chefs to help lead us to victory over Rice in our
annual Chef Showdown on October 27.
The UH Student Cook-off Competition will be held
on Thursday, October 6 at the UC at noon. Tables
and work stations will be set up in the main dining
area for all to watch and cheer on the contestants
as they compete. Chef Brent will put the
contestants through a series of exercises to test
their culinary abilities and find the fastest student
chefs. The top 2-3 students will join Chef Brent’s
team to prepare UH’s entry into the chili cook-off.
Contestants can sign up the day of the
competition starting at 11:30 a.m. or register early
by emailing Billy Garner, Marketing Coordinator
for Auxiliary Services, at
wdgarner@central.uh.edu.
The Chef Showdown chili cook-off versus Rice
will be held prior to the football game on Thursday, October 27 in the student tailgate area. Chef
Brent and his team will compete against Rice University’s cooking team in a chili cook-off. Stay
