Tucciarone (905) 890-1221 Principal’s Message As we prepare to enter into the wondrous, miraculous Advent journey, we are reminded that we are all called to patience, perseverance and prayer at many times in our lives. This is a time when we find ourselves turning to the comfort and security of familiar routines, places and people. For many, this is a time of personal, spiritual renewal for we understand that the Christmas message is truly about God’s great love for us. At our school, we welcome Advent in prayer and in song. We teach our students about our faith traditions; we share our familiar Christmas story of new life, of a most special child born in a most ordinary manner … the Child of God, born a refugee, who was extraordinarily both God and human … the Word made flesh. We invite you to join us in becoming Advent people … embrace this time in our faith as an invitation to reconnect with your Christmas story. May this time of anticipation and waiting nourish our hearts, minds and souls. May God’s grace and goodness brought to us through the birth of the Christ child bless you and your family with renewed hope, peace and love now and in the New Year! To Light, To Guard, To Rule and Guide – Guardian Angels IS YOUR CHILD SICK? PLEASE KEEP THEM HOME WHILE THEY RECUPERATE AND CALL905-595–0909: It is a parent’s responsibility to keep sick children at home in order for them to properly recuperate and so that fellow students and staff do not become ill. Being at school sick is dangerous for all concerned. Symptoms of the flu include: fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose and muscle aches. It is spread easily from person to person through contact with unwashed hands and contaminated surfaces such as toys, pencils and desk tops. If your child is ill or not attending school for any reason, please call and let us know before school starts. Grade 6 RAID Program The program content for Project R.A.I.D. is organized into seven 60 to 80 minute lessons. Each student will receive a workbook to use throughout the course. Your R.A.I.D. officer will teach students accurate information on both legal and illegal drugs. They will learn how to say no to drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Positive prevention techniques will be taught. This supports our belief that being drug free is something to be proud of. Many of the male teachers at Guardian Angels have sprouted beautiful moustaches for the campaign in support of men's health, specifically prostate cancer. The Guardian Angel's community has come through again with their generosity in support of the campaign and when we added all the pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, we were able to raise close to $400. Our Mo Bro's team was able to collectively raise nearly $1100. and as a country, Canadians raised nearly $36 Million for the Movember Campaign! Thank you to all the teachers for your contributions and school spirit. The moustaches in the classrooms look great! 40 Matheson Boulevard West, Mississauga (Hurontario & Matheson) Behaviour in the Playground We regularly remind students that rough play in the school yard can lead to injuries. We ask for their cooperation and self-discipline to make wise and safe choices so as to encourage a safe and injury free environment for all. Pushing, shoving, play fighting and wrestling moves are all forms of unacceptable play that compromise student safety. At Guardian Angels To Light, To Guard, To Rule and Guide – Guardian Angels students know we have the rules “Keep your hands to yourself” and “If it’s on the ground, leave it on the ground.” We appreciate your support reinforcing these rules with your children. and activities in the French Immersion classroom, except for Religion and Family Life, will be delivered in French. In Grades 2 and 3, 70% of the instruction will be in French, with the proportion of English increasing to 50% in later years. Parents in the School/Yard Teaching your child in a safe and happy environment is our goal. All non-staff must report to the main office for identification and to state their business. During school hours, no one is permitted to visit classrooms or loiter in the hallway. You may be a parent to your child, but to others you are a stranger. It is also inappropriate to discipline or speak to a child that is not your own. This can cause unnecessary stress to young children and should not be happening. If there is an issue that needs to be dealt with please inform staff. We are happy to help.
