In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

• Buses may be cancelled but the school will be open
• School may be cancelled entirely.
To ensure school security for students and teachers, the
Board policy requires that all visitors (including parents)
must report to the office. Parents or designated individuals
are required to sign children in at the office when bringing
them to school late and must also sign them out at the
office when withdrawing them from school before regular
dismissal time.

is not reported, our policy is to

leave early. A reminder to parents and students that an

Students are required to dress in a manner and attire suitapolicy states that consideration should be given for keeping
students indoors during recesses when the wind chill
reaches –20C. At –25C students will be kept indoors.
Playing outdoors is a pleasant & healthy activity when
students are wearing suitable clothing. For the younger
students, it would be helpful if parents were to label items
of clothing with their child’s name, so that each person can
more easily locate his/her own clothing from the class coat
rack area. Each term, items make their way to the Lost and
Found and are never claimed. Labelled items can be returned more easily and mixed up items sorted out more
readily. If your child brings home an item by mistake,
please return it to the school so that this mix up may be
corrected the next day!
Valuables
Please help us to protect your child’s valuables by keeping
them at home. Staff cannot be responsible for any valuables
that your child brings to school. In order to avoid valuables
being lost or misplaced please keep them at home.
Communication
Open communication between home and school is very
important. Although we will be reporting to you formally
during the school year, please do not hesitate to contact us
at any time if you have questions or concerns. A phone call

our staff will be in casual attire. Donations for this week
will be going towards our Christmas Outreach Program.
Physical Education
Thank you to the staff for your generous contributions.
Students participating in physical education must wear
non-marking running shoes. In the interest of personal hygiene students should bring a change of clothes for physical education classes. In the interest of safety, students
must remove jewelry prior to participating in physical education. Again we will continue with the Ministry mandated Daily Physical Activity Program. This program requires
that all students from grades 1-8 be involved in 20 minutes
of physical activity each day.
Excursions and Field Trips
Educational trips that extend learning opportunities are
encouraged. Teachers must follow appropriate Board procedures and by law, the school must have on file permission forms which must be signed by parents. VERBAL
PERMISSION can not be accepted.
Street-proofing Tips
The safety of our students is a major concern here at the
school. Teachers regularly review street-proofing with students and you are encouraged to do the same. Peel Police
provided the following tips for parents/guardians and caregivers:
• Tell your children to never go anywhere with a stranger,
not to talk to strangers and to never take anything from
them. You have to teach them what a 'safe stranger' is in
case they need help. A safe stranger includes a police
officer, a fire fighter, a cashier, etc.
• Develop a 'what if' game for your children, to get them
thinking of how they would respond if they felt threatened
or afraid.
• Know whom your children play with and where they go.
This includes keeping a list of their friends' addresses and
phone numbers.
• Encourage your child to use a buddy system instead of
walking alone.
Please be assured that we will continue to do all that we
can to help make our school a safe environment for our
students.
Toonie Tuesday and Fabulous Fridays
Once again our school
will be having Toonie
Tuesdays and Faboulous
Fridays. All items being
sold will be sold at $1
each. It’s called Toonie
Tuesdays because generally speaking some students will purchase a

funds raised will go towards supporting school activities

Look Like?
A person of conscience keeps his/her promises.
Sound Like?
A person of conscience admits his/her wrong doing and feels
badly.
Feel Like?
A person of conscience chooses to do the “right thing” and feels
good about it.

Did you know……from “An Historical Understanding of
Key Issues Related to Catholic Education”
Why did the United Legislature of Canada East and Canada West keep improving separate school legislation?
It responded to Catholic parents, trustees, bishops and priests,
editors of the four Catholic newspapers, members of the business
and professional world, all of who argued for legal and financial
rights for separate schools.
