December Virtue – Hope / We All Want
to Feel Included
This month we will focus on the Virtue of
Hope. We believe that God comes to us as

life. God has given us this Advent season
year after year in order to focus our minds
and our hearts on the good all around us.
People of Hope…
 Keep up a positive attitude
 Can bounce back from tough situations
 Set and stick to their goals
 See the good in others even when they
make mistakes
 Work to include others
 Let others know that they are good
people

Safe School Initiatives
Before School Hours Supervision
For your child’s safety, we request that he/she not be on school
property until supervision begins at 8:15 a.m. This is when
supervision begins.
Visitors to the School
By law, ALL visitors to the school must report to the main office
using the doorbell for entry as all doors are locked. Our first
priority for all students is their safety. Board and Provincial
guidelines clearly outline the process that all visitors must follow
upon their arrival on school property, which begins with
reporting to the Main Office. You will be issued a Visitor
Sticker, which must be worn visibly during your stay and sign in
and sign out.
Attendance and Punctuality
All students are expected to attend school regularly and
punctually. In the event that your child will be late or absent,
please call the school and follow the prompts to leave a
message. This can be done 24 hours a day. For students who
are absent and for whom a call is not received, we will attempt
to contact you.
PLEASE CALL: 905-820-2227 Press # 1
All students who arrive after 8:30 a.m. or
12:30 p.m. must obtain a Late Slip.
Kiss and Ride
Kiss and Ride drop – off begins at 8:15 a.m. with supervisors
wearing orange safety vests. The lane along the sidewalk is
reserved for DROP-OFF and PICK-UP ONLY. Proceed to the
YELLOW post.
We respectfully ask that you do not leave your vehicle while in
this lane to avoid causing a traffic backup. Children are to exit
the car on the passenger side only with their backpacks ready.
A staff member is available to escort your Junior and / or Senior
Kindergarten child to the Kindergarten yard. Parking and
getting out of your car is not allowed anywhere upon entry into
the school (especially the north corner of the entrance near the
Kindergarten yard). Your assistance and positive response to
directions from staff on duty in this area are greatly appreciated.
Striving for Excellence
Respect for Self, Respect for Others
As a staff, we continue to work together to provide example and
consistency in modeling Jesus’ message to our students. We will
assist and remind students of the importance of being respectful
and working together to create a safe, caring, inclusive
community.
Snow Stays on the Ground
Students will be reminded that SNOW STAYS ON THE
GROUND. Every child in the school is made aware of the
importance of this rule in preventing injury to others. Students
are encouraged to constructively use the snow that winter brings
to build snowmen, forts and sculptures. Please assist us by
reviewing with your child the dangers of throwing snowballs.
Together, we will create a schoolyard which is safe for all during
the winter season.
Winter Dress Reminder
It is imperative that all students come to school ready to
participate in all activities, including outdoor recess. Please
ensure that your child(ren) come to school with hats, scarves,
gloves, winter outerwear and boots. As well, all students should
have indoor footwear at school. This is essential in case of an
emergency evacuation, as students will not have time to put on
their boots if they need to evacuate the school in a hurry.
Sports and Activities Update…

and Boys Volleyball teams! Both teams had an amazing season,
demonstrating excellent skill and sportsmanship. The

Family Tournament on Thursday, December 3rd. The coaches
are very proud of all the hard work and efforts of our teams. They
look forward to another fantastic season next year.

Winter is coming and with it…cold temperatures. We will be
implementing our energy conservation strategies throughout this

amount of resources that we use. We will also be continuing our
recycling program and encouraging the use of reusable water
bottles. Let’s do our part to conserve the resources that God has
given us. Thank you to Mrs. Grattan, Mr. Murphy and Mrs. Brady
for leading our students.
