Dear Friends,
Claire and I have just returned from our leadership training at Brandeis University and want to share some of our insights with you.
We were so amazed at the students, administrators, professors and the campus, that we wish you could all take a trip to the campus.
We toured the campus and got to see the library, a laboratory and most impressive a two-year-old department where we witnessed 3D printers and all the wonderful things they are able produce from these printers.
Brandeis has instituted a new initiative called the BNC Scholarship Campaign.
Brandeis is all about the students. We met several scholarship students who were not only brilliant but interesting and personable. They are so grateful for our support and the contributions which enable them to attend this wonderful school.
One of the things that they are very proud of is the fact that almost every student has at least two and sometimes three majors.
In supporting this campaign you may be helping the person who finds a cure for multiple sclerosis or autism, or comes up with a novel idea to help sustain the planet, or writes a best-selling novel, or becomes a world leader to promote peace.
With this summer bulletin, we hope you will enjoy the wonderful study groups we have planned for you. From films to lunch and learns to trips, we are sure you will want to get your registration in early.

Film: Women of Note: Margot
“Considered to be one of the world’s greatest ballerinas during her time, Margot Fonteyn illuminated the stage with grace and elegance but led a tormented private life. Director Tony Palmer’s documentary explores her genius. Combing through a vast collection of footage, the film features exclusive interviews with previous dancing partners and includes performances of Fonteyn with Rudolf Nureyev, the partnership that left worldwide audiences aw estruck.” A must see if you love ballet, Margot Fonteyn epitomizes the prima ballerina. This is a long movie, so we will start early and take a lunch intermission. Bring your own lunch and we will provide a beverage and dessert.

Memorable Morven: Tea and Tour
Take a step back in time as we visit Morven, a National Historic Landmark that was once the NJ Governor’s mansion as well as home to one of the signers of the Declaration of Independece. Our afternoon will begin with a docent led tour of the first floor of the mansion. We will also have access to the second and third floors of the museum which currently house The Story of the Lindberghs, an exhibit that takes a closer look at a fascinating and complicated couple. To complete our trip back in in time, we will enjoy an elegant tea in the Garden Room overlooking the Colonial Revival
Garden. Tea will include finger sandwiches, fruit, scones, and cookies. What a lovely way to spend a relaxing summer afternoon.

Lunch & Learn: The Trial of the Century
On March 1, 1932 the small town of Hopewell, NJ was changed forever from a quiet suburban hamlet to a place that people all over the world were talking about. It was on that date that the 20 month old son of Charles and Anne Morrow
Lindbergh was kidnapped from his crib while his mother and nanny were right downstairs. Who was responsible for this crime? How could such a crime happen to such a famous family living in suburban NJ? So many questions have been explored by so many people over the years. Lloyd Gardner, author of The Case that Never Dies, an in-depth look at this famous case and the trial that ensued, will be sharing some of his findings with us. He will open your mind to some little known discoveries about the Lindbergh family and their tragedy and inspire you to ask questions about what may have happened on that tragic night.
