UH Office of Advancement Hosts “TOSS: Trade in Other School Shirts” to Spur School Spirit As part of a broad initiative to promote UH pride throughout the city, the University of Houston will host a “T-shirt trade-up” event called TOSS today at the athletics pep rally in front of Cougar Village. Students, faculty, staff and members of the community are encouraged to trade T-shirts representing other colleges or universities for a new, red University of Houston T-shirt. The TOSS event, to be held from 6−6:30 p.m., will be repeated at future athletics pep rallies for the remainder of the football season. It is part of an ongoing effort to spur school spirit for CougaRed Fridays, both on campus and in the community. “There is a palpable sense of pride about the University of Houston on campus and around Houston right now, and we want to give people a way to show off that pride, not to mention something red to wear on CougaRed Fridays,” said Karen Clarke, associate vice chancellor and associate vice president for university relations. The effort will start on campus, but will eventually target the community as a whole. “We want to encourage all Houstonians to embrace UH as the city’s university,” Clarke said.
