REMEMBRANCE AND PEACE
VIRTUE OF THE MONTH
Lord Jesus Christ,
Those whom we remember this month are examples of
your words.
“Greater love than this no one has than to lay down
one’s life for a friend.”
CONSCIENCE
This month we remember all those who lived and died
for us;
their energy and their effort to defend our freedom for
our loved ones and
for our country.
Teach us to appreciate the value of patriotism…
a true and Christian love of country.
Let us grow in a love for our country that consists not
of following blindly,
but of working together to make it the land of
goodness that it should be.
Let our patriotism be such that it will not exclude the
other nations of the world,
but include them in a powerful love of country that
has room for all others too.
Amen
During the month of November, we will be focusing
on the virtue of conscience. God has given us the
ability to know the right and decent way to act and
then to act that way. We trust that the common
Spirit we share inspires us and guides us to make
good decisions if we allow our conscience to be
well formed. A person of conscience allows prayer
and scripture to influence him/her.
A person of conscience …
Chooses to do the ‘right thing’ and feels good about it
Can see how his/her actions may hurt others
Admits his/her wrong-doing and feels badly
Says ‘sorry’ and tries to make up for mistakes
Keeps promises

St. Cecilia is our Patron Saint. She is the patron of musicians, composers

Achieving, Believing & Caring
November is the Month of Remembrance.
Dr. Simone Candy Drive at Father Clair Tipping
For Catholics this is a special time of year, as we are
reminded of the importance of the feasts of All Saints Day
and All Souls Day.
our community of those men and women (both known
and unknown) who have lived faithful lives in the Church.
On this day we remember our saints in our prayers and
ask for their prayers and intercessions. The historical
roots of this celebration have to do with those martyrs
who died in the early Church. Later, Pope Gregory VII
declared this day to be the date we remember all who
lived and died for their faith.
Each year for Halloween at Father Clair Tipping the
students collect large amounts of leftover Halloween
candy. The candy is donated to Canadian Food for
Children. This is a charitable organization run by Dr.
Simone. The candy is sent to third world countries and is
given to missionary workers who hand out the candy to
children. The organization constantly focuses on
following Mother Teresa’s example of helping the poor.
We are asking that the students at Father Clair Tipping
bring in their extra candy from Halloween and drop it off
at the front foyer of our school. This will be going on
during the week of November 4- 8th . Thank you for your
generosity.
All Souls Day, November 2nd, is a Roman Catholic
Volunteer For - All Star Reading Program
day of remembrance for friends and loved ones who have
passed away. The day purposely follows All Saints Day
in order to shift the focus from those in heaven to those in
purgatory. It is celebrated with masses and festivities in
honour of the dead. While the Feast of All Saints is a day
to remember the glories of Heaven and those there, the
Feast of All Souls reminds us of our obligations to live
holy lives and that there will be purification of the souls
of those destined for Heaven.
We are in need of parent volunteers to act as Reading
Coaches for students in grades 1-3. The commitment
involves assisting students to develop independent
reading strategies. If you are able to spend an hour or two
once or twice per week, please call the school and leave
your name and phone number. All volunteers must have a
Criminal Reference Check completed (please contact the
office for an appropriate form). Interested volunteers will
be contacted to schedule a training session and determine
volunteer availability.
All Saints Day, celebrated on November 1st, reminds
On November 11th, Canadians all across the country
stop and honour those who have served, at home or
overseas, in World War I, World War II,
and Korea. We also recognize the
incredible valour our modern day
peacekeepers and armed forces display
in missions around the world. Poppies will be made
available to students for a small donation which will be
given to the local veterans legion for support.
Remembrance Day Assembly
On Monday, November 11th at approx. 10:30 a.m., our
annual Remembrance Day Assembly will be
held in the school gym. We will recognize the
achievements and sacrifices of Canadians at home and
overseas during past wars and peacekeeping operations
around the world. At 11:00, we will observe the
customary moment of silence. As always, parents and
grandparents are most welcome to attend this service.
St. Cecilia Feast Day Mass & Advent Mass
We will be celebrating the Feast Day Mass for St.
Cecilia @ approximately 9:30 am on Thursday,
November 21nd and our Advent Mass on Tuesday,
December 10th at 9:30 a.m. in our school gym. We are
looking forward to seeing many of our community parents
and students, as we come together in preparation and
celebration of the Eucharist.

FCT Intermediate Volleyball Teams
Arrive on Time
Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls and Boys
Volleyball Teams for their strong efforts and teamwork
this year. Father Clair Tipping hosted our family of
schools mini-tournament on Friday, October 18st. Both
our girls and boys volleyball teams were successful in
winning their respective tournaments and advanced to the
Family tournament on Thursday, October 24 th at St.
Michael’s S.S. in Bolton. Both the boys and girls team
played hard and displayed excellent sportsmanship.
Unfortunately, we continue to experience a number of
students arriving late to school. Students are expected
The boy’s perseverance led them to the finals against St.
John the Baptist. In a very close game the boys finished
second in the BECDM Family of Schools.
Congratulations to Christian, Shadrack, Sebastian,
Matthew, Rumal, Matias, Adam, Layomi, Daniel and
Arnold. A special congratulations to their coaches: Mrs.
Rulli, Ms. Cibulka and Mrs. Naccarato.
to arrive at school on time for admission into
school at 8:30 a.m. Students who arrive after the start
of morning prayers and announcements are considered
late, and are expected to report to the main office to
receive a late slip for admission to class. Please be aware,
arriving late for school impacts upon the student in a
number of ways, e.g., the student misses out on valuable
instructional time, and their late arrival creates a
disruption to the learning of others. Punctuality is a very
important life skill that applies in the educational setting
and also when one enters the world of work. Good habits
start now and are reinforced throughout a child’s early
years. Your continued support, ensuring your child arrives
on time and ready to learn, will help them to develop
habits that will support them in the days ahead.
The girls’ volleyball team played an excellent six games
at the Family tournament. They showed excellent skill
and teamwork and represented Father Clair Tipping with
skill with team spirit and enthusiasm. Congratulations go
out to the following girls: Joseline, Alessia, Deseree,
Maria, Nicole, Ehitohameh, Vanessa, Shekinah and
Kiana. Also, a special thank you to their coaches: Mrs.
Capone and Mrs. Eaton.

Allergen Policy
Thank you to all parents who continue to be mindful of
students with nut allergies in our school. Please be
aware, as per Board policy, that there is NO
sharing of food of any kind, including celebratory
foods either for birthdays or seasonal celebrations.

classmates will be sent home. Thank you for respecting
this policy during our recent Halloween festivities. In the
event that food is embraced for one reason or another, it
will be communicated to parents and will be strictly
controlled by the school.

they have a wonderful Christmas.
