Specialist High Skills Major? The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program is a ministry approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific sector while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). A SHSM enables students to gain sector-specific skills and knowledge in the context of engaging, careerrelated learning environments and helps them focus on graduation and on pursuing their post-secondary goals. Sector Recognized Certifications and Training Students will receive sector recognized certification and training that will enable them to acquire knowledge and skills related to safe work habits and training in the environmental field. Students with these certifications will have an advantage when entering the workforce.
