Christmas retreat Hope Virtue Assembly We are the Mockingjay. On Thursday the 18th of December Mr. Laporte’s class put on this month’s virtue assembly on Hope. It featured songs like “Joy to the world a Christmas wish” by Nick Jonas, and skits performed by the students showing us how we can find hope in our lives. Then at the end the Student Council showed off all the ornaments that the classes had made for the ornaments making contest. It really was a wonderful liturgy. Fire Is Catching….grade 7 and 8 trip to the movies…fun…fun…fun Guess the Teacher #2 Hello everyone! Are you ready to play the weekly game of “Guess the Teacher”? I will give you last week’s answer at the end of this article, but first here are the clues for this week! This teacher has always wanted to be a teacher, and would be working in the education system or with kids no matter what. This teacher has already travelled to many places, but still wants to visit Greece, Australia, Scandinavia, or South America. Or possibly all four! This teacher likes rock and roll music, and his/ her favourite artists include: Dave Matthews Band Pearl Jam The Beatles The Foo Fighters This teacher has been teaching for nine yearsbut not necessarily 9 years at Georges Vanier (wink wink!) So there you have it! Those were this week’s clues. I wonder if you’ll guess which GV teacher it is! Hopefully you will find out by next week! Which reminds me, there’s a little answer I believe I owe you… The teacher from last week is…… Mr. Laporte! All of those clues from last week’s issue are about him! Did you guess it? Well, whether you did or not, I bet you learned a lot about him that you didn’t know before! Have a great week and I hope you can solve this week’s riddle! Naomi Benedict St. Thomas Aquinas serenades us with their sweet Christmas carols…awesome! On Thursday Dec 18th we had a school wide Advent Retreat. This is where all the students went around to different classes to do different Christmas activities. Some of the activities included Jeopardy, Tabuu, Guess the Christmas carol, singing, arts and crafts, etc. We hope all students and staff had a great day. GO VIKINGS! Rockin’ And Poppin’! On Friday, everyone in the school had a really good time! Let me tell you why….. This Friday was a movie day for the Primaries (K- Gr. 3) and Juniors (Gr. 4-6), and the Intermediates had a special Christmas Dance! The Primary and the junior students watched movies and they had a blast! After all, there’s nothing much better than celebrating the biggest holiday of the year- Christmas- by watching a holiday movie and eating popcorn! The Student Council made and sold popcorn to go with the movie. This not only lets the students have popcorn with their awesome movie, but it also raises money for the Student Council, which allows us to have more money for future events! And that’s a poppin’ good idea for a poppin’ good time. The Intermediates didn’t miss out on the fun! They rocked out at the dance that was held on Friday. They played awesome popular songs that the students couldn’t help dancing to! And what a party that was! Everyone had a blast and clearly showed it! Friday was a really great day for everyone- both students and staff. And what better way to celebrate the last day of school than to party? That’s the end of my article this week, and sadly I won’t write to you until January. But I wish all the best to the people listed: -Everyone reading this article- it means a lot to me and my friends who write, because it means that our Vanier Voice is being read and ‘heard’.
