Communications and Online Resources Calvin College has three mailing lists to which you are automatically subscribed: Calvin-News comes out at least once a day and is intended for general news items related to Calvin College faculty and staff. The Calvin-News listserv is managed by Human Resources. When the HelpDesk posts important information to Calvin-News, it will always contain the heading “CIT:….” and be from the address citnotify@calvin.edu Calvin-SOS e-mails are sent out only for unplanned emergencies. Occasionally these emergencies will affect technology, such as an unplanned power outage. CIT uses a mailing list called CIT-Alert. CIT-Alert is sent out only when necessary to alert faculty and staff of planned or unplanned computer or telecommunication outages or other time-sensitive technology related outages. Additional Calvin mailing lists: All students are subscribed to Student-News. This digest comes out at least once a day and is intended for general news items related to Calvin College students. It can be viewed at http://www.calvin.edu/it/connection/ Maintenance Blog The Maintenance Blog announces all planned outages or upgrades for network services or desktop environments (PC and Mac). The latest changes are described within the body of the blog. On the right side are archives for all network/server changes and desktop software changes. To view the maintenance blog, visit http://www.calvin.edu/weblogs/maintenance A to Z Index CIT maintains an extensive web site detailing various policies, service level agreements, training and troubleshooting documentation, and web forms. The easiest way to navigate CIT’s web page is to use the A to Z Index. Most services are cross-listed for easy access. For example you can find information about GroupWise e-mail listed under “GroupWise”, “E-mail”, and “Novell GroupWise.” The A to Z Index is available on CIT’s home page, http://www.calvin.edu/it Atomic Learning Atomic Learning is an online technology training library that provides thousands of short video tutorials on the most commonly used software applications, including those used by Calvin and provided to faculty and staff.
