Boys’ Cross Country (7 th SWC)
The boys XC team finished 7th at the SWC Championships. The Demons were led by Juniors Gavin Kelly
(26th place, 18:18) and Ian Hulse (27th place, 18:21), followed closely by Freshman Jacob Kraft (33rd
place, 18:33). Jacob was the second fastest freshman of the day. Also scoring were Senior Rami Kalash
(48th place, 18:48) and Freshman Nick Irwin (40th place, 18:55). Senior Jon Simon (44th place, 19:01) and Junior Evan Milovich (54th place, 19:41) rounded out the varsity runners. In the JV race, the
Demons also finished in 7th, and were led by Sophomore Alex Barth (19th place, 19:36) and Junior Brian
Hood (34th place, 20:08). Junior Makis Beach and Sophomore Billy Abdelhady set new PRs finishing in
21:38 and 22:36 respectively.
Girls’ Cross Country (5 th SWC)
Girls finished 5 th
overall, which was a mild disappointment seeing as we were aiming for 4 th
, but Avon
Lake snuck past the Demons at the end. Our pack thinned out a bit too much, but many of the girls ran well despite that, as can be seen in three highlights from Saturday –
1) The team 5K was the 6 th
best in team history,
2) Grace Jenkins repeated her performance as an All-SWC runner with her 12 th
place overall finish.
3) Senior captain Nora Lee ran the race of her career and crushed her previous PR’s not only for this course, but also for her career. Can’t say enough about this young lady and how well she represents our school and our sport … it was fantastic to see her put in such a great performance as her tenure with us winds down.
