CIVICS CHV2O1 EXAM REVIEW EXAM FORMAT Your Final Exam will appear in the following format. SECTION 1: MULTIPLE CHOICE (KNOWLEDGE) • • • 20 MARKS You will be required to circle the correct answer (4 choices) for each question or statement on the Exam Paper. The questions/statements will vary in type and may include identifying the exception. The questions/statements will range from the entire course but will be mostly based around the Purpose and Types of Government, Structure of Government, People in Government, and The Charter of Rights and Freedoms. SECTION 2: A. SERIES OF PARAGRAPHS • • • • (APPLICATION) This Question/Activity is based on the Literacy Test. You will be required to write a minimum of three (3) paragraphs in response to a Civics Question. The Question will encompass your understanding of the Course, including your YPI activity. Your success in this section will be based on your ability to follow instructions, write in proper paragraphs answer the question, and provide examples in proper format (intro/ body/ conclusion). B. IDENTIFICATION OF GOVERNMENT LEVELS • • (APPLICATION) 18 MARKS You will be required to answer seven (7) questions in complete sentences. The questions will vary in types and requirements. The questions/statements will range from the entire course but will be mostly based around the Political Spectrum, Structure of Government and Elections. SECTION 4: INFORMATION PARAGRAPH (THININKING) • • • • • 10 MARKS You will be required to identify the Level of Government responsible for each of 10 statements/scenarios. The section will solely be based on the 3 Levels of Governments in Canada and your ability to apply your knowledge. SECTION 3: SHORT ANSWER (COMMUNICATION) • • • 10 MARKS 16 MARKS This Question/Activity is based on the Literacy Test. You will be required to read a newspaper article that is tied to Canadian Government. Once you have read the article, you will be given 6 multiple choice questions and 2 long answer questions to respond. The Multiple Choice questions will be completely based on the reading selection. The Long Answer questions will be based on your understanding of the reading in connection with your understanding of the course content. TOPICS TO REVIEW This course spans a great deal of information. It is extremely important that you do attempt to review all your notes leading up to the exam as there are so many links and connections to be made between each of the issues and topics we have studied.
