101 TOOLS TO I NCREASE Y OUR P RIVACY & S ECURITY About the Facilitator Chris Vollum is a happily married, Oakville-based parent with two children attending school within the Halton District School Board. In March of 2007, Chris’ grade eight daughter wanted to join Facebook because "everyone else was on it." As Chris researched Facebook's philosophy toward both user privacy and the handling of user-posted content, he was shocked at the significant level of security and privacy flaws that the social networking site exhibited. Armed with a deep and extensive understanding of every word and interpretation of Facebook's privacy policies, settings and sub-settings, he established “Facebook 101” with the sole purpose of educating parents, teachers and administrators, and students on how to effectively apply their Facebook profile settings to minimize privacy breaches and proactively defend against cyber-bullying. His hands-on, user-friendly workshop has been described as a “must see” event that explores the nuts and bolts of how to maximize Facebook’s settings with an emphasis on safety, security and privacy. The workshop has been presented in schools throughout Halton, Toronto, Southwestern and Central Ontario. Contact and Booking Information Chris Vollum Tel: 416.722.1440 Email: whatisfacebook@gmail.com
