MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY HAYSTACK OBSERVATORY WESTFORD, MASSACHUSETTS 01886 Telephone: Fax: 781-981-5951 781-981-0590 17 May, 2013 TO: Distribution FROM: Chester Ruszczyk SUBJECT: Mark5 Version 2.2.1 Release Notes New Features: • Official release of Mark5A application to support SDK9.2 • This is the first official release of the Mark5A/5B/5B+ code that unifies the antenna's and correlator DIM code for Mark5A (Mark5B/5B+ is still a separate package for the DOM mode at the correlators) and allows support for disk modules > 8TB. • The Mark5 code can be used on the correlator for Mark5A's • This version of code links the Mark5 application to Conduants' SDK9 code, Specifically SDK9.2 • Disk2net, disk2file now have the capability to turn of real-time mode. This means the if the disk access is slow, fill pattern will not be outputted but the application will wait for the slow disks. • Greater than 1024 scan are now supported, but it is not the default and has not been thoroughly tested. • When using SDK9, and if unsure which version of SDK the disk module was previously used with, e.g. SDK8, there is a simple rule to follow before use: EEVE (Double E,VE) for Erase, Erase, set the VSN, Erase. This will remove any legacy in the User Directory as it relates to the various Mark5 systems and version of SDK. • New version of SSErase that supports Mark5A/B/B+/C, please execute SSErase –h to get the new default parameter settings. • SSErase only supports conditioning a single disk module at a time Bug Fixes: Version 2.2.1 (Time tagged:2013y067d01h ) • In IOBoard.c: 1 • o Fixed a bug that would not configure the Mark5B IO board properly when used with an Amazon controller card. Parse5A.h o Update version time stamp Version 2.2.0 (date tag: 2012y269d14h) o Was the version of Mark5A application software converted from supporting SDK8 to supporting SDK9. Known issues: • This version is not properly supporting e-VLBI functionality • The greater than1024 scan in the user directory is not working properly and will be fixed • Disks greater than 2TB, e.g. eight 3 TB disks, will result in only 16TB of usable storage. Firmware supporting this capability will be added to the web site shortly. The problem has been identified by Conduant and XF2/V100 firmware is available. Amazon firmware was under test during release of this software. 2
