MATH 1106 is recommended for most people. The grade in your calculus course is part of the Sophomore GPA Requirement for admission to upper-division courses in the Coles College of Business, and calculus is a prerequisite to certain required business courses. Business majors should NOT take MATH 1101 or MATH 1107. If you transferred in credit for MATH 1107, meet with a Coles Staff Advisor to discuss it. If you are interested in higher MATH courses, meet with a Coles Staff Advisor to discuss your options. NOTES – 1. Prerequisites – Check the most recent edition of the KSU Undergraduate Catalog for course prerequisites. Students are responsible for meeting a course’s current prerequisites even if they changed after the student started at KSU. The Catalog is online at catalog.kennesaw.edu. 3. Do NOT complete all your General Education requirements before beginning business coursework or you may find it difficult to schedule a full load when you are starting business courses. However, the English composition and the Math courses should be completed right away as they are prerequisites to certain business courses. 4. KSU Grade Requirements – Business majors must earn a grade of “C” or better in the Lower Division Business Core (Area F), and the courses that constitute the Upper Division Major Requirements (including Upper Division Business Core courses, the Information Technology Requirement, Major Field Requirements, and Major Field Electives). In addition, International Business Majors must earn a “C” or better in the courses used to meet the Foreign Language and International Study Experience Requirements. Students must earn at least a 2.0 GPA to receive a degree from KSU. Coles College of Business – Sophomore GPA Requirement – Business majors who enrolled in KSU (or returned to KSU to complete an undergraduate degree) in Fall 1995 or later are not allowed to enroll in upper-division (30004000 level) business courses until they meet the Coles College Sophomore GPA Requirement. To meet the Sophomore GPA Requirement, business majors who entered Fall 2008 or later must earn an Adjusted GPA of 3.00 or higher for the following set of eight courses and must have a “C” or better in each course: MATH 1106 (or 1190), ACCT 2100 & 2200, ECON 2100, 2200, & 2300, BISM 2100, and BLAW 2200. 5. KSU Residency requirements – In order to receive a business degree from KSU: Students must complete at least 33 semester hours of business courses at KSU. At least 24 semester hours of upper-division business courses must be completed at KSU. Students must complete at least 12 semester hours of their Major Field Requirements and Major Field Electives at KSU. Students must complete at least 20 of their last 30 semester hours before graduation at KSU. 6.
