The School of Engineering – Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP) sends
a warm welcome to Chinese technology students, teachers and researchers. As one of the top Engineering School
in Portugal, we are sincerely looking forward to unlock the
potentialities inherent to students and staff exchange and
research partnerships that create and share knowledge and
technologies.

Since 1852, ISEP has been pioneering education and innovation in Engineering. Our educational project focuses on
applied knowledge to the real world. It is based on a handson methodology, teamwork and entrepreneurship, in order
to train the next generation of leaders in Engineering. The
School belongs to the European Higher Education Area and
works according to CDIO and EUR-ACE standards.

Located in Porto, the biggest city in north-western Iberia
and the second biggest in Portugal, the School of Engineering – Polytechnic of Porto benefits from a global perspective
of opportunities. Our strategic location on the West Coast of
Europe facing the Atlantic works as a gateway between Europe, the USA, South America and Africa. Our language, the
sixth most spoken in the world, reinforces our connections
to countries like Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde,
Guine-Bissau, Sao Tome e Principe and East Timor.
With 11 BSc, 11 MSc, 10 R&D groups and the European Project Semester, we hosted international students from more
than 20 countries in recent years. Regarding innovation,
our R&D groups help us to anticipate and solve tomorrow’s
challenges. They also strengthen our partnerships in Europe,
America, Africa and Asia.
We see Engineering as a fundamental key for a more intelligent, sustainable and inclusive society. It unfolds the future,
ensuring smarter, greener and friendlier environments that
bolster economic competitiveness, international trade and
social welfare.
China and Portugal have a long and prosperous friendship.
Macau is a good example of our common history and cultural ties. The Bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
between our two governments and the Portuguese Embassy
in Beijing and Consulates in Shanghai and Macau illustrate
our political will. Recent investments made by China Three
Gorges and China State Grid in Portuguese companies demonstrates economic opportunities.
Engineering turns energy, environmental, security, production and competitiveness, mobility and other challenges
into opportunities. We welcome you to join us and embrace

Home of the largest Polytechnic Institute, the largest University and main destination for the mobility of foreign students,

CDIO体现了系统性、科学性和先进性的统一，代表了当代工程教育的发展趋势。
从2000年起，麻省理工学院和瑞典皇家工学院等四所大学组成的跨国研究获得Knut and Alice Wallenberg基金会近2000万美元巨额资助，经过四年的探索研究，创立了CDIO工程教育理念，并成
立了以CDIO命名的国际合作组织。
CDIO代表构思（Conceive）、设计（Design）、实现（Implement）和运作（Operate），它以产品研发到产品运行的生命周期为载体，让学生以主动的、实践的、课程之间有机联系的方式学习工
程。CDIO培养大纲将工程毕业生的能力分为工程基础知识、 个人能力、 人际团队能力和工程系统能力四个层面，大纲要求以综合的培养方式使学生在这四个层面达到预定目标。

Located in the universities region of Asprela, the ISEP is ten
minutes from the metro to downtown Porto by foot.

With an increasing recognition, Metrology can be seen as a
barometer for the innovation capacity of a country or company. It is the science of measurement and its applications.
Metrology includes all theoretical and practical aspects of
measurement, having a relevant role in industry as well as
in everyday life. According to the European Association of
National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET) metrology related
activities represent 6% of developed countries’ gross domestic product (GDP).

The BSc trains professionals to perform in the fields of quality, calibration, measurement and the control of uncertainties. It is a unique degree in Portugal and focuses on applied
physics, metrology mechanics, acoustics, optics, electronics,
signal and image processing and quality control to ensure
professional opportunities in diverse sectors ranging from
medicine to industrial environments.

and monitoring of systems, considering the way different
components interact to reach a common goal: increasing

with the biggest Portuguese business association (AEP), to
adjust graduates profile to the real needs of XXI century corporations.
The course stands by CDIO (www.cdio.org) international best
practices, investing in team work and applied knowledge.

Electrical Engineering is the field of knowledge that studies
and works with electric and electromagnetic phenomena.
In this universe are included the production, transmission,
distribution and use of electricity. It also encompasses such
themes as energy efficiency, rational use of energy, security
systems, telecommunications, renewable energy, electric
mobility, sustainability and the environment.
ISEP has a double degree protocol with the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) for this field.

The Complementary Training Plan (Plano de Formação
Complementar) ISEP FORGLOBE was created by the need
to diversify ISEP’s training offer, strengthening its bet in lifelong learning to give people higher qualification, in a way
that ensures the satisfaction of professionals that intend to
refresh their knowledge or to acquire new working tools. It
also intends to contribute with a new range of complimentary training solutions, adapted to the market’s most recent
requirements, allowing students to develop specific skills
looking ahead to their future integration in the professional
world. ISEP FORGLOBE includes short duration courses in several scientific and technical fields, that also in the academic,
employability, present and leisure perspectives, targeting not
only ISEP’s students, teachers, staff and researchers, but external audiences as well.

All classes are taught in Portuguese, but students can receive
teacher support and study material/bibliography in English.
Evaluations and exams can also be done in English. We also
have the possibility of having classes taught in English whenever we have a sufficient number of foreign students (20-30
students)
