June, 2013
Rotary Club of Brampton—’Day of Giving’!
The Rotary Club of Brampton honors an annual
hands-on initiative known as the ‘Day of Giving’.
The ‘Day of Giving’ is an event where the Rotary
Club of Brampton collaborates with community
organizations to perform helpful and meaningful
activities. Sponsors from the community donate
materials or resources as needed and the Rotary Club
provides the planning, coordination, tools and the
necessary labor to complete the tasks.
This year this annual event included a project that
supported a dedication to Andrew Beland, who passed
away suddenly in December, 2011 and who was a
student at St. Stephen School. He became an organ
donor and his family have promoted this life-giving
cause ever since.
The Rotary Club of Brampton elected to create a
perennial garden to enhance the already existing tribute dedicated to Andrew at the front of the school. The
efforts of the Rotary Club Brampton have supported our efforts to keep his memory alive.
The school will hold an end of the year tribute to Andrew once again, on Monday, June 24 at 9:15 am!
Please join us!
R. Pazzelli, Principal
Tribute to Andrew Beland!

community, an end-of-the-year tribute will take place at St. Stephen School on

In addition, the Sick Kids’ Foundation is extremely pleased to recommend to you

Donation Fund and the Ophthalmology Unit.
If you are able to lend your support to this event, please direct your donation to:

THANK YOU:
MUCH TO CELEBRATE!:
As we end the school year,
I would like to take this opportunity to
thank you for making my fourth year an
enjoyable one! Together we have
accomplished much to improve student
learning over this past year!
This time of year provides
the opportunity to reflect and
celebrate our many accomplishments!
Teachers have worked diligently to
address student achievement both within
recognition from the Ministry
programme once again this year.
Our school continues to take part in the
ECO GREEN Ministry Initiatives!
We continue to focus on respecting our
environment, reducing waste and use of
energy and on the recycling programme
to name a few. We continue to provide
our students the opportunity to purchase
a stainless steel water bottle to reduce
plastic bottle waste.
This year we have submitted a proposal
to develop an ‘Outdoor Classroom’ and
have been accepted. To this end, a grant
of $5,000.00 has been provided to us. The
ECO Team under the leadership of Ms
Paglialunga, have already developed a
plan which will see its completion during
the months of August to October, 2013!
The ‘Scientist in the School’ programme
and the Art of Learning programme
provided once again an excitement for
learning and a support to our core
programmes in the school thanks in part
to the support of our School Council
through your fundraising endeavors.
Our Safe School Action Team under the
leadership of Mrs. Muir, Mrs. Salituro,
Mrs. Pasquino, Mrs. Muir and our Peel

from the Peel Region of Health to put
towards a ‘Healthy School Initiative’.
With the money we chose to increase
physical activity in the school (dance and
skating)!
These items are but a few of the many
activities that complemented our school
year!
I wish to thank our Staff whose energy,
dedication and commitment have
provided an environment where students
could grow in the faith, academics and
extra curricular activities!

COLLECTING ALL BOOKS BY JUNE 14!:
June is the time we try and
have returned all the library
materials loaned to students
throughout the year.
Most students are very co-operative and
return items on time and in the same
condition which they received them. We
will be notifying parents if their children
have missing books.
Students are aware that they are
responsible for paying for any lost,
missing or damaged books. Anything
you can do to encourage your child to
bring these items back to school and
meet deadlines is appreciated!
Similarly, textbooks are school property
and are ‘loaned’ annually to the students.
The expectation is that textbooks will be
returned at the end of the year!
Please remind your child to search his or
her room for any school texts and return
them as soon as possible.
Parents may be held responsible for lost
or damaged materials!

Dear Mr. Pastuch,
Words cannot express the gratitude we feel, from the St. Stephen School Community regarding your ‘Day
of Giving’ project that you elected to do for our community.
Your project, dedicated to Andrew Beland, a student who passed away in 2011, truly supported our
efforts to keep his memory alive. As an Organ Donor, Andrew has contributed to provide better quality
of life to others and we also do not wish to forget this.
You have also enhanced the beauty of our school’s landscape and Andrew’s Memorial Tribute. This is
sincerely appreciated.
Many of our community members have stopped to admire this work and have commented to me on how
remarkable it looks and how your considerate and selfless good deed mirrors Andrew’s legacy.
Sincerely,
