ELET 3301: Linear System Analysis Required Course M & W 10:00 – 11:30 AM CATALOG DESCRIPTION Differential equations, Fourier series & transforms, Laplace transforms, and their application to linear systems. Electrical circuits, communication, signal processing, and control. Introduction to discrete-­‐time systems and use of modern simulation software packages such as Multisim and Matlab. PREREQUISITES Credit for ELET 2305 and MATH 1432. REQUIRED TEXT and MATERIALS o Transform Circuit Analysis for Engineering & Technology by William D. Stanley, Prentice Hall, Inc., 5th Edition o Lecture notes on Blackboard COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES and PERFORMANCE CRITERIA Students will: o Demonstrate understanding of circuit analysis in the time domain and transform domain. o Able to explain the voltage-­‐current relationship of electric components at different states. o Able to develop and solve first order differential equations for special RL and RC circuits. o Able to utilize the Mesh and Nodal analysis in both time domain and Laplace transform for circuit analysis. o Demonstrate ability to use modern simulation software packages such as Multisim and Matlab to study the circuits’ behavior. o Able to do Laplace transform and Fourier transform for typical waveforms. COURSE GRADING There will be one mid term exam and a final exam; the final grade is based on following percentage: Attendance and Quiz: 20% Homework: 25% Two exams: 40% Lab: 15% Prepared by Dr. X.
