here! It was great to speak to so many parents
during our Open House. Please remember to

Curriculum Corner
For the month of October, we will be studying the
following:
Mathematics: Chapter 4 – Addition and
Subtraction. Remember to check the Nelson
website: www.mathK8.nelson.com if you require
any information on the concepts taught.
Language Arts: In reading, students are
identifying elements of a fiction/narrative story to
assist them in summarizing the story. They will
also be recognizing the main idea of the story. In
writing, students are learning how to write
effective sentences and paragraphs with a goal of
writing their own story. Our word study program
looks at a spelling rule each week and students are
given a quiz at the end of the week. Please study
their words with them weekly and work on using
them in sentences.
Social Studies: Living and Working in Ontario
Science: Strong and Stable Structures
Family Life: Unit 1 – Created and Loved by God

Weekly Schedule
Gym: Day 1 and Day 4
Pizza Day: Every Thursday with payment
on that day at $1 a slice.
Library: Every Day 2
