WHS STUDENTS EARN HONORS IN NATIONAL
GERMAN EXAM
Westlake High School sophomore Kimaya Bakhle, a German 2 Honors student, reached
the Gold level for scoring in the 92nd percentile on the 2016 National German Exam
sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German. Her score made her
eligible to apply for a free study travel award to Germany.
The National German Exam is given online each year to nearly 22,000 high school
students. Each exam is comprised of 100 questions in listening and viewing, and
reading.
Junior Catherine Meng reached the Bronze level and scored in the 71st percentile.
Juniors Sarah Leonard, Selena Kash, Alexis Sole and Zoe Johanni, and senior Patrick
Steffen, earned Achievement awards for their scores. All are students in World
Language teacher Matt Mayforth’s German classes.
