Love
Love is patient, love is kind
Love is not envious or boastful or
Arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way;
It is not irritable or resentful;
It does not rejoice in wrong doing,
But rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things,
Hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.

Extended French
Late Students
A number of students continue to arrive late daily. Any
student arriving after 8:40 a.m. is considered late and
should be accompanied by an adult. Please make every
effort to have your child/ren at school on time. When a
child is late he/she misses valuable teaching time. Late arrivals cause disruption to the other students and also to the
teacher who has already started the lessons for the day.
Developing good work habits and time management skills
can maximize a child’s learning potential. Let’s work together to develop these skills.
School Safe Arrival
If your child will be late or absent from school for whatever reason we ask that you call the school to inform us. To
report the absence kindly phone (905) 455-1001 and leave a
message stating your child’s name, spelling the last name,
your child’s grade, teacher and duration of absence. These
calls are greatly appreciated and help us to streamline our
safe arrival program.
Grade 4 parents who wish to enroll their child in Extended

Dressing for the Weather
Just a gentle reminder that students should be continuing
to dress warmly for outdoor recesses. Except when the
weather is extremely cold or wet, the students will be going
outside during the recess and lunch periods. The DufferinPeel Catholic District School policy states that consideration should be given for keeping students indoors during
recesses when the wind chill reaches –20C. At –25C students will be kept indoors. Playing outdoors is a pleasant
and healthy activity when students are wearing suitable
clothing.
3.
Upcycle /Recycle Your Games
There are occasions where the temperature reaches –25 C
and students have to remain indoors. Students are encouraged to play appropriate indoor games or activities. If you
have used games or Lego at your home that your child has
outgrown please consider donating them to the school for
use during indoor recess times.
Bus and School Cancellations

disruption of bus transportation and regular school operations. A decision to cancel school transportation and/or to
close schools is usually made by 6:00 a.m. and will be announced on the following media outlets:

During the winter months, inclement weather and/or poor
road conditions may cause the disruption of bus transportation and regular school operations. When any bus is cancelled it is cancelled for the entire day. Therefore students
transported to school by parents require the same transportation home.
If you have access to the internet you may check the Student Transportation of Peel Region (STOPR) website for
cancellation and/or to see if your child(ren)’s bus is delayed and by how long it is delayed.
The STOPR website is www.stopr.ca
Virtue of the Month is RESPECT
During the month of February, we celebrate the virtue of
“Respect”. God has given us the virtues of friends and
companions to keep us company and to help us to get
along.
A person with Respect:
 Is patient
 Knows how to wait his/her turn
 Can calm him/herself down and think before reacting
to situations
 Knows how to avoid physical aggression

Can think things through and do what is best for everyone
Bullying Prevention Corner – Telling an Adult about
Bullying is Not Tattling
February's focus is on the difference between tattling and
telling. In dealing with bullying situations, students are
encouraged to use the strategy, ‘telling an adult’. Although
this sounds simple and logical, there are many difficulties
and roadblocks associated with this strategy. Younger children struggle to understand the difference between telling
and tattling, while older children struggle with their desire
to deal with the situation independently. The goal of telling an adult is to keep children safe. Students will be given
the opportunity to learn to identify the difference between
telling and tattling (reporting and ratting), explore reasons
students don’t report bullying and understand how to
effectively and safely report to an adult.
Tattling/ratting is defined as telling in order to get someone
into trouble, or telling when there is no one being hurt and
no rule has been broken that could result in a dangerous
situation .
Telling/Reporting is defined as reporting unsafe behaviours to get an adult in order to get help for someone—to
get someone out of trouble .
Tips for parents:
-Use incidents where one child is telling you about a sibling/cousins behaviour to help identify whether they are
tattling or telling/reporting
-practice with your child how to ‘tell an adult’ about bullying ( what happened , how they feel, what help they desire)
-develop awareness of the ‘reasons’ children state for not
reporting bullying to adults.

Eco-News
In an effort to continue to support our Eco-Schools "Silver"
rating from the Ministry of Education, we continue to work
together to find ways to help our environment. Our EcoTeam, the Green Legions, have been meeting to discuss
new and different ways in which we could maintain our
silver status and strive for GOLD! Some of our new initiatives include, Ban the Bottle Mondays, Recyclable Thursdays and G.O.O.S Bin Fridays.
Along with these initiatives, we will be continuing:
Turn it off Tuesdays, whereby the whole school will turn
off their lights from after first recess until lunch to help
conserve energy! Also, beginning on Wednesday, February
5th, Pauline Vanier will be starting Wasteless Wednesdays.
Students are encouraged to bring all snack and lunch foods
