Jan Kolodynski 905-455-4260 NEWSLETTER # 5 Respect Dear God, You have done such a marvelous job of creating us and the world around us. Among your greatest gifts are our friends and acquaintances. We come to you now asking for grace and strength to keep a sense of respect. We hope that by recognizing and honouring the shared Spirit in everyone we meet, we can make our school a safer, caring, and more inclusive community. May your gift of respect help us to live each day with confidence. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who lived to show us the way. Amen. February 2010 This month, we celebrate the Virtue of Respect! Every person in this world carries the Spirit of God – and so every person is our brother or sister through Jesus Christ. We all deserve to be shown courtesy, consideration, sensitivity and thoughtfulness, as these are different ways of showing respect. In order to be respected, we also have to respect ourselves. Everyone has a right to go to a school free of gossip, name-calling, and put-downs. We should expect to be treated with respect by everyone we meet. A respectful person… * uses a positive tone of voice and body language * avoids swearing, name-calling, put-downs, and inappropriate gestures * says ‘Excuse me’, ‘Please’, ‘Pardon Me’ * avoids gossip FIRST RECONCILIATION Saturday, March 6 FAMILY DAY HOLIDAY - SCHOOL IS CLOSED on Monday, February 15, 2010 FIRST COMMUNION Saturday, April 17 at 5:00 p.m. This is a reminder to parents that Monday, February 15 is designated by the province as Family Day. VISION & HEARING TESTING For your convenience, we have arranged to have SEE & HEAR at our school this year to screen for vision and hearing problems at a cost of $10.00 to the parent/guardian on February 19. This is an excellent opportunity to check your child’s vision and hearing in a convenient, cost effective manner, as Family Doctors are not usually equipped to identify Hearing Loss … a Child’s Hearing is not being monitored unless they have visited an ENT or Audiologist … a regular visit to the Audiology Clinic is not covered by OHIP and would cost upwards to $35.00. A permission form will be sent home with your child this week. If you wish to have your child participate, please complete and return the form with $10.00 to the school by February 18, 2010.
