Got a Minute or Two?
Every year we lose some exceptional volunteers because they
move or their children graduate to high school. Volunteers are
always needed to assist Parent Council in the many functions
that we provide. Please consider becoming involved with these
activities; your children will love you for it! Call the school at
(905) 458-7080 and leave your name and number. A Council
member will contact you soon. Our programs are very
successful in most part due to our volunteers.

Fall Fundraiser
We will once again be offering QSP magazine ordering again this fall, so be sure to hold on to any renewal
notifications that you have received.
Parent Council is offering a new twist to chocolates this year. It is called “Boo Boxes” and we will be running
this initiative in conjunction with Family Day Care.
Because most families purchase Halloween treats to hand out to trick‐or‐treaters each year, we have chosen to offer Nestle Boo Boxes as part of our Fall Fundraiser Nestle Halloween BOO Boxes feature 50 Nestle Fav*rites junior‐bars (Aero, Kit Kat, Coffee Crisp & Smarties). Purchase our Halloween BOO Boxes for only $15 each (including taxes). Although this is a higher price than in retail stores, a portion of this cost will be directed back to our school. You will have to place an order for boxes and include payment. NO BOXES WILL BE SENT HOME IN ADVANCE WITH YOUR CHILD! Orders will be accepted until the end of September 2009 and the product delivered in the first two weeks of October ‐‐ in plenty of time for Halloween!
All proceeds from our Fall Fundraiser directly go back into the school to support the students.
More information will follow shortly.
Lunch and Treat Orders
Order forms for lunches and
treats for the fall will be going
home soon. When the forms
arrive, please take the time to:
a) fill in each form completely
with your child’s name,
teacher’s name (for those
students in JK and SK,
indicate whether they are in
AM or PM) and the item(s)
you wish to order. If there is
a choice of items (for
example, apple juice, fruit
punch or water) and no
preference is indicated, then
the first item on the slip will
be selected. If you are
sending in orders for more
than one child, please include
payment for all orders and all
order forms in one envelope;
clearly indicate on the outer
envelope the names of each
child and each of their teachers;
b) carefully calculate the total for
all slips and include either cash
or cheque for the amount.
Please note: if paying cash, we
require exact change. Change
cannot be provided. Please do
not include other monies for
school trips or other activities.
c) return the orders by the
specified date in the attached
envelope. Late orders may not
be accepted;
d) mark in your child’s agenda what you
have ordered for them. We record a
monthly order master sheet and use
this as a reference should a
discrepancy arise. Place the monthly
calendar provided on your fridge and
refer to it.
Your continued support of these lunch and
treat programs help Parent Council to fund
items for the school which are not covered
by the School budget. We thank you in
advance for your assistance.

News about our Open House Event
Traditionally, Parent Council organizes a dinner event prior to the “Meet the Teacher”
portion on Open House night. Sadly, this year, that dinner will not take place due to
the tight timeframe for ticket sales and lack of volunteers.
Future Fundraising Initiatives
With the recent downturn
of the economy, we
understand that families
are feeling the financial
pinch. We at Parent
Council understand;
therefore, rather than
running one large
fundraising event, we will
offer several “community
services” throughout the
year.
Typically, families were
asked to sell one box of
large chocolate bars,
which returned a
substantial profit for
Parent Council. It is our
hope that more families
will be able to participate
in these smaller, less
costly fundraisers.
We will continue with the
lunch and treat program,
starting in October. Also,
look for some newer,
interesting ventures just in
time for the Christmas
season.
We will also be looking at
alternative “low or no cost”
fundraising options, such
as collecting soup labels
and empty inkjet and laser
cartridges.
Do you have any ideas for
a school fundraiser?
Would you be interested
in helping out? Please
contact us by email at:

by phoning the office and
leaving your name and
phone number.
We can do no great things, only small things with great love.
