Student Council Update:

It was asked if being on the Student Council can count as community hours and Mr.

Schmidt said yes.

The Prime Ministers joined us to give an update on the events Student Council have planned.

Bake sale tomorrow, Nov. 26 th

They had a raffle for Sick Kids - $70.00 was raised.

Proposal from High Skills Environmental to get a grant for $5000 for landscaping and gardening.

Talent Show – students commented it wasn’t well advertised. Disappointed there was no teacher act.

Jan 26 th – Open house for all 3 High Skills Majors has been communicated to every elementary school in Mississauga East.

If you are not from a feeder school you can come to High Skills Major course. We have spaces for 2010.

Mr. Sacco handed out a sheet on Specialist High Skills Major.

Information Technology is best one, 15 students graduate

65 students registered in Chisholm

St. Paul had the most apprenticeship in Dufferin Peel in last 4 years. – You need 70% to pass.

There is a block of 10 courses, 11/25 (??) only have High Skills Major.

– Environmental High Skills Major

Have to pass WHMIS, CPR, GPS certification: 5

– 6 days training, GIS (Geographic

Information Systems) – compass and map

They go to Minden for wilderness training.

Web-site has pathways

– Environmental law – lawyer

She has 10 students – 4 in Grade 12 and 6 in Grade 11

The jobs are in the environment.

We made $186. from snack bar that night

We can try selling at December 10 th grade 8 open house

Alex suggested if we could have students in uniform greeting parents and grade 8’s

Alex asked is we could buy a laminator, and thinks Parent Council could support the cost of the Christmas tree that was bought for the front foyer

Alex purchased a Parent Council sign for $33.00

Motion for 3 items above passed.

Treasurer’s Report

Kelly said Remembrance Day commemoration was beautiful.

There is $2,278.43 in account including the $186. from talent night

Cheque of $150.88 was issued to Carla.

Alex said that we pay $200.00 for the cheques we get from the bank

Parish Rep’s Report

Parish “Foods of the World” dinner was a great success, thanks to all who organized.

The Haitian Dance Troupe performed here in October. They surpassed their goal of

$50 K.

November is month of the Holy Souls

Christmas bazaar was a great success

All men 18 and better are encouraged to join the Knights of Columbus council

St. Vincent de Paul monetary drive is on Dec. 12 and 13 th .

Handel’s “Messiah” will be presented at St. Patrick’s on Nov. 29 th at 3 pm

St. Dominic’s are planning a New Year’s Eve party. Mass at 7 pm followed by a party –

Adults - $20 and Children 10 and under - $12

Principal’s Report

Mr. Dmytrasz was out tonight representing administration and our school at York

University – 15 students are here as teachers in training.

They have met associate dean.

Mr. Schmidt has asked teachers to look for better prices in class trips eg. The Sound of

Music vs. community theatre

Mr. Finamore is at the hospital tonight of the student who was hit by his mom’s car yesterday just after school ended. The car went over curb, he is okay and will be having surgery on his foot.

OSSLT

We were 2 points below the board.

Grade 9 English test will be much more problematic.

Hope to improve math marks in grade 9.

3 – Grade 9 students failed subjects.

Grade 10

– Literacy test offers enormous help.

If 10 or 11 students don’t pass test it looks worse on us than a larger school.

Will offer a Grade 11 literacy test next year. Maybe grade 12.

Confident with grade 9 marks.

Girls flag football team lost in 1 touchdown.

Boys volleyball team to go to Provincial AA tomorrow.
