Finamore away due to family issues. - Reaching out grant for $750 and will be used for cyberbullying speaker Talent night refreshments needed; requesting donations of chips and help from parents for Nov. 16 -Will have non-teaching staff rep soon from custodial staff -several ideas for school spirit which are linked to Halloween: Fear Factor, Pumpkin pie eating contest, scary face painting, pumpkin carving , costume contest and dance on Oct. 26-Monster Mash -Eco Council Chapters night to fundraise for the school library; 10% of sales go to school Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council; 6 students will be sent to advise mayor -Friday Eco buzz-Oct 26 8 students to represent St. Paul’s at conference; planning for ecology for future -several fieldtrips: Bruce trail, Science Center, Stratford, retreats for 9 and 10, Oct 4 mass Act Now thanksgiving Food Drive Oct 25 Haitian dancers -multicultural group formed by students St. Dominic’s bazaar will get baking help from students-raffle raised $1000 last year -fundraise for orphanage related to Haitian group and for the community Act Now SAC will do welcome dinner for ESL students -idea of flags to represent all the cultural groups at St. Paul’s -have noted a change in the cultural make-up of the school population. -new priest works well with youth-every Thurs 7:30 mass -new priests presented at conference: ecology and curriculum-Haitian dancers are also going to the parish -helping out a parishoner’s family -Mining development for Peace -1298.00 in the Bank -will put in a GIC -CCCSAC meeting Nov. 24, St. Francis Xavier -In-service Mar 29 with a vendor fair also at St. Francis Xavier -Feb 12 Coloroso keynote speaker, location TBA -826 total students; no one was declared surplus -ESL students helped with enrolment -possible LTO for semester 2 in science dept; I possible retirement -Awards assembly Nov. 13 -Talent night Nov. 16 -Nov 9 Remembrance day ICAF rep talking to students-Finamore organized this -PD Sept 28 focus on improving student achievement and school goals planned -Gr. 9 Math scores: students 18% higher than Board average in applied, 1% higher than Board in academic -OSSLT similar to 2006 -Gr 9 and 10 students at risk are flagged; will begin before Xmas the prep for OSSLT -Miss East Religion and Family Life Ctte Oct 5 speaker on challenges of living as a Christian in today’s society -our students spoke to 7/8 students about high school ministries eg. Dr. Simone -uniform committee met and some uniform choices are in the display case -positive feedback about the black polo shirt-will bring 3 more samples for the Nov meeting -St. Paul’s TV is on channel 30-5 member crew doing announcements Com tech dept responsible for this initiative -Feb 1 Bill 212 new safe schools act; suspensions and expulsions will be under review -bill 55 will require students stay in school until 18 years old -Oct 10 school used as polling station; C De Sousa won -LA trip; 30 students in 10, 11, and 12 -students will see 2 plays, Disney world and commercial work -students working with church group during Thanksgiving weekend -Gr 9 received progress report during week of Oct. 9 -Gr. 10. 11 and 12 will get report only if below 60% -late Nov is Parents’ Night; see agenda for dates such as reports, parents’ night and civies day -coupon book sales did not make enough money considering the effort -Meeting dates: NEXT MEETING NOVEMBER 19 Jan 21 Nov. 19-Cyber bullying Feb 11 Dec. 10 Apr 7 May 12 June TBA
