evolved from a fancy cook to business manager

With today’s growing and diverse restaurant
market, which includes non-traditional
establishments, such as wine bars, specialty
coffee houses and restaurants with a niche.
Students will demonstrate an understanding
of the challenges and opportunities present
in the food and beverage arena and will be
prepared for entry-level roles in the industry.
The Applewood Café team of MCC faculty,
staff and students always puts forth a
concerted effort to make sure patrons enjoy
a memorable dining experience whenever
they come to visit. A menu of seasonal
specialties, high-quality cuisine, pastries,
vegetarian selections and other delectable
treats and desserts are available for
meetings, special events and luncheons.

students get on-the-job practice and training
in preparing for future career opportunities
as chefs, food service managers, bakers,
restaurant managers and other careers in the
food service business.
Bakers and Pastry chefs may pursue an array
of options over their years working in the
industry. Students may consider owning their
own shop or company or decide to work for

The Applewood Café, a fine dining
restaurant that is open to the campus
community as well as the general public is
located in the Prahl College Center on the
main campus of Mott Community College.
The Applewood Café also serves as a
laboratory for students enrolled in the food
management/culinary arts programs at MCC.
