##.# MCC Accreditation Recommendation Committee Report (AQIP) Mott Community College has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) for almost 80 years. While MCC is accredited until 2009-10, a new approach to accreditation has become available, a continuous improvement model called Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). President Shaink assembled an Accreditation Recommendation Committee consisting of employees from all areas of the College; this committee researched both accreditation options, PEAQ and AQIP, and many members attended the HLC Annual Meeting to participate in sessions and learn more about AQIP. AQIP is the new, ongoing process of self-evaluation and analysis that is focused on institutional systems, Action Projects, and continual assessment of institutional quality, and it is designed specifically to allow MCC to customize the process to our own needs and those of our community and stakeholders. The decision to become an AQIP school is not irrevocable; MCC retains the ability to return to the 10-year accreditation program (PEAQ) in the future, but in order to become an AQIP college, MCC must begin the self-assessment immediately and apply in 2006. The Accreditation Recommendation Committee unanimously recommends to the President and Board that MCC begin the process to become an AQIP college. Be it resolved that The Charles Stewart Mott Community College Board of Trustees Accepts the recommendation from the President and the Accreditation Recommendation Committee to begin the self-assessment and application processes for the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP).
