CDEV‐112 Job Seeking Using Social Media This course will develop and enhance knowledge of social media technology and how to incorporate these tools into a job search plan. This is a course that will heavily use technology to explore and utilize interactive and social media to prepare for current hiring trends. The course teaches skills to establish professional contacts for employment opportunities. Workplace professionalism including behaviors and etiquette will also be reviewed. TDL.‐141 Commercial Drivers License (CDL) ‐ Basics This course offers instruction to prepare students for the Commercial Drivers License exam and obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit. Instruction in breakdown procedures, hazard driving conditions, basic knowledge of the vehicle systems and various endorsements will be provided, as well as driver wellness. Department of Transportation rules and regulations will be thoroughly covered as well as the Commercial Motor Vehicle entry level requirements under the Federal Motot Carrier Safety Code. Students will learn various vehicle combinations and basic maneuvers required by the State of Michigan. These maneuvers include Straight Line Backing, Forward Pull Up, 90 Degree Ally Docking and the Precision Right Hand Turn. This course will also have instructional on the road training in which students will learn to navigate city streets and expressways. TDL.‐144 Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Internship This course provides on the job training using methods and skills learned throughout the course by gaining experience with potential employers. The internship placement is carried out and performed by the student. The course instructor and a specific cooperating business will define the specific learning activities and work responsibilities to be carried out by the student. TDL.‐145 Motor Carrier Advanced Responder Students will learn first aid basics and CPR/AED for adults, children, and infants. This course provides a framework for learning basic skills that may save a life or prevent further injury. This course will introduce students to the concepts of safely providing assistance and advanced care to sick or injured persons that professional commercial vehicle operators may encounter during their career on the nation's roadways. Students will learn from scenarios of actual emergencies that are common in the commercial vehicle industry. Action/Effective Date Program Revision Approved Dental Hygiene Program The Dental Hygiene Program is seeking a revision to the GPA for pre-program students in General Education vourses for acceptance to the program. Spring 2012 Approved as Amended Automotive Technology Revised courses: AUTO-111, AUTO-131, AUTO-141, AUTO-151, AUTO-161, AUTO-182, AUTO-221, AUTO-262, AUTO-271. and AUTO-283. Added Courses: AUTO-292 and AUTO-293. Deleted Courses: Auto-291. The proposes revision will require students to take all of the automotive classes offered to cover all 8 ASE areas. Currently our students can graduate with an AAS in Automotive and never study 2 or 3 areas of concentration.
