 Remember, your goal is to use at least three sources of information about your topic
so you can compare the information presented. This will help you figure out whether
a source is reliable (has accurate information).
 Use the public library as well as your school library.
 Use a variety of sources – both type and format.
 Evaluate each source carefully to ensure that the source has authority and the
information is reliable, relevant, and current enough to meet your needs.
 Select the best sources you can find.
 Record EVERY source you use. Suggestion – Use the School Library’s Record of
Source Organizers.
 Take good notes. Suggestion – Use the School Library’s Generic Notemaking
Organizer.
 Be careful to avoid plagiarism.
 Ask for help if you need it.
