Gracious and merciful God of all creation,
During this season of remembrance,
we remember how you have gifted
us with free will
You have given us the virtue of conscience
to ensure that we will know the good
and decent way to act and then choose to act that way.
We come to you now asking for the grace and strength to
form and to follow our conscience in order to bring to life your plan
for a safe, caring, inclusive community here at St. Julia.
May your virtue of conscience free us to make decisions
that serve the good of all your people.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son, who lived to show us your
way.
Amen

the most candy...weighing in at 1.1 kg! Special mention
and thanks as well to Mrs. Galasso whose class brought in

Our Intermediate girls soccer team participated in the Mississauga/
Brampton Central family soccer tournament and finished in second
place. The girls went undefeated throughout the tournament until
losing in the championship game to San Lorenzo Ruiz. The coaches— Mrs. Hewgill and Mr. Monahan were very proud of the girls as
they displayed team spirit and played tough throughout the long,
cold day of competition. The team members were Cassandra M.,
Emily P., Julia B., Rachel C., Sydney B., Charlotte L., Miranda G.,
Elizabeth L., Stephanie S., Erica S., and Carmela O.
INTEMEDIATE BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the Intermediate Boys Volleyball team for a terrific
season. Joshua D., Thomas K., Martin I., Martin G., Eric P., Nicholas M.,
and Matteo P. The boys showed tremendous dedication giving up many of
their lunches to practice and hone their volleyball skills. This was evident
by their great season record of 3 and 1. Unfortunately it came down to the
wire in the end but regardless, your coaches; Mlle .Hewitt, Mrs. Laratta,
and Mrs. Galasso are very proud of the effort exemplified on the court.
You represented the spirit of St. Julia well!
St. Julia is looking for Talent! Calling all parents! St. Julia is looking for anyone who has a
special talent, ability, or hobby that they may
be willing to share with students of St. Julia. If
you have what we’re looking for, please send a
note to Mrs. Lawrence or Mrs. Bitti outlining
your name, phone number, child’s class as
well as a brief description of your child’s special ability. Thank you!
STAINGLASS WINDOW
Please stop by our front entrance and look at our two new and beautiful stain
glass windows. Last year, students in grades 7 & 8 worked on designing and
creating colorful pieces of art that reflected our St. Julia community. Each
window has its own special theme. One stain glass window reflects the
diverse cultures and abilities of our school community while the other reflects the virtues and prayers that guide our monthly intentions. Special
thank you to the School Council for subsidizing this project. We look forward to adding two more stain glass windows next year.
RAINBOWS
If your child is part of a single parent family, a blended family, has experienced the death of a loved family member, friend or sibling, or is struggling
through a painful experience, this will be an opportunity for him/her to share
their feelings with peers that may also be going though similar changes.
Rainbows will begin November 7, 2013.
P.A.L.S.
The students of St. Julia school have trained and continue to prepare for their
leadership role in our PALS program.
P.A.L.S. (Playground Activity Leadership in Schools) is a schoolyard program
geared to help younger children learn co-operative games and strategies in
order to interact appropriately during lunch recess. Our student leaders have
chosen to become mentors to the younger children and teach them age appropriate games in order to achieve successful daily play. They are enthusiastic and
eager to get started... WAY TO GO P.A.L.S.!!
We would like to remind parents of the need to have a
network of support to care for children especially in case of
midday illness. Peel Health repeatedly recommends that the best
practice to prevent the spread of viruses is:
 wash hands with soap and water thoroughly and often
 to cough or sneeze into a sleeve or tissue
 stay home if you are sick
When children become sick during the course of the school day, a plan
needs to be in place to care for him/her. As with all medical issues, we
continue to take direction from Peel Health on how to best respond to
community illness.
Thank you to those parents/guardians who have signed up to have their 2012-2013
Newsletters delivered electronically. I would like to have the Newsletter e-mailed to me at the following:
