Issue 4
O God, as light comes from the candles of our
Advent wreath, may the blessing of Jesus
Christ come to us, warming our hearts and
brightening our way. May Christ our Savior
bring life into the darkness of this world, and
to us, as we wait for His coming.
Amen

YOUTH IN MINISTRY @ ST. JOSEPH PARISH
EDGE (for those in grades 6-8) meets every 1st and 3rd Sunday of
the month at 7 pm, after 6pm Mass.
ST. JOSEPH CHOIRS ADVENT CONCERT
Annual free concert will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013
at 7:30 pm.
DAY OF CONFESSIONS
December 11, 2013, @ 10am-12 noon and 7 pm-9 pm.
During Anti-Bullying Week, the BLAST Team went
around classrooms raising awareness and distributing
posters. Real life examples of bullying were shared each
morning over the announcements. To promote inclusivity,
the Blast leaders organized outdoor activities during recess
for the grades 6, 7 and 8 students. Grades 1 to 8 students
also contributed a “Helping Hand” with their own antibullying message that was later displayed in our hallways.
Students wore pink on Monday and Friday.
ANTI-BULLYING TIP OF THE MONTH:
Reach Out - Tell an adult. Sometimes you may have to tell
more than one trusted adult. Ask your friends to help you.
There is safety in numbers. Practice what to say the next
time you're bullied with your parents, teachers or friends.
ST. JULIA CHOIR
As we celebrate the Advent season awaiting Jesus' birth; the
choir will be preparing some Advent and Christmas music for
our Advent Mass, the Primary Concert, and the annual
Christmas Carol Sing. Parents and guests are always invited
to come and enjoy the music. Thanks to the choir members
for their commitment to the music ministry!
WALKING WEDNESDAYS
Our Walking Wednesdays Program continues to run every
Wednesday even in the colder weather. Our intermediate
Walking Wednesday volunteers have been doing a great job
greeting and encouraging those children who are walking to
school. Although the temperature has dropped we still had
some good results sent in from classes this week. Being
Canadians, winter weather doesn't bother us. We just bundle
up and take it in our stride! We also have had visits from the
school nurse who stopped by each classroom to talk about the
health benefits of walking to school. So keep up the good
work St. Julia students and keep walking to school as often as
you can!
