SCHOOL COUNCIL FACTS DID YOU KNOW? The 2011-2012 St. Angela Merici School Council raised over $26,000 in profits thanks to fundraisers such as the Halloween Dance-a-thon, Pizza Days, Lunch Lady, and Entertainment Books. Profits were used to benefit students, teachers and the school by purchasing/subsidizing: o o o o o o o o o o o French Library books for French Immersion students Student awards & Communion gifts Yoga mats, Orienteering Compasses & Dance team costumes Gym & DPA materials Sun Shade/Canopy for team sport events Snacks for Playday Aussie X Document Cameras Craft budget for Primary grades & Kindergarten butterfly kits Special class presentations & assemblies Additions to our Sensory Room The council also provides monetary support to the Brampton West Summer Camp, Guardian Angels Parish, the Christmas “Adopt-a-Family” project, subsidizes team transportation and helps fund activities for Grade 8 Graduation. Please note that the above mentioned items/purchases are NOT provided by the School Board Fundraising cannot be accomplished without the committed efforts of parent volunteers, who are needed to photocopy forms, hand out pizza and count money, among other tasks. Being a council volunteer doesn’t need to be a huge time commitment – it can take as little as a few HOURS a YEAR. Council meetings are open to ALL PARENTS – come to one meeting, or attend them all.
