Play and Learn (Newborn to six years) Children and caregivers learn the value of play through crafts, sensory play, playing with toys, role play, music and story circles. Roots of Reading (Newborn to six years) Join us for stories, songs and action rhymes! The Roots of Reading program is offered in partnership with the Brampton Library and focuses on the six important literacy skills for children to develop reading and writing readiness. Hour Together (Parents & caregivers with children up to six years) This is a time for parents and guardians to connect with other caregivers. Caregivers participate in crafts and discuss a variety of topics. Childminding is provided during this session. Spaces are limited. Special Events Speech and Language Pathologist * Do you have concerns about your child’s speech and language development? The Speech and Language Pathologist from Erinoakkids is available once a month to do onsite consultations. Each appointment is a 1/2 hour. Date: September 28 Preschool Consultations * Do you have concerns about your child’s behaviour? Our Preschool Consultant Susan from Peel Children’s Centre is available to meet with you to discuss strategies to assist you in your role as a parent. Each appointment is one hour long. Date: September 9, 23 Peel Public Health The Peel Public Health nurse visits every other Friday and offer discussions and presentations about various health topics. The presentation and discussion period is one hour in length. Topics: Routines - September 3 @ 9:30 a.m. Picky Eaters - September 24 @ 9:30 a.m. Infant and Child Development The Infant and Child Development Consultant Anaar visits once a month to discuss topics that support healthy child development, and provide support to families of children 0-6 years who have been identified or are at-risk for developmental delays. Topic: Connecting with the Families When: September 14 @ 9:45 a.m. Parenting Young Children Workshops * (Parents of newborn to six years) The parenting young children workshops are funded by Sir Joseph Flavelle Foundation in collaboration with the Family Education Centre. A series of three parent-to-parent workshops to support positive parenting. Space is limited and registration is required. Childminding will be provided. Topics will include: Understanding your Child’s Behaviour The Language of Encouragement Listening and Taking to Young Children Parenting Young Children When: September 30 to November 11 Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Special Reminders Outdoors and Nature Walks We would like to encourage families to bring appropriate clothing for outdoor activities, including hats, comfortable shoes and sun block where appropriate. Parking Parking is limited in the parking lot. Families may park on the street in front of the school on the north side, if space is not available. Centre Capacity The learning place can accommodate 40 participants including Settlement Services for Landed Immigrants children and parents due to fire regulations.
