Celebrating Catholic Education

On April 17, 2013, many Mississauga South schools gathered together at St. Joseph Secondary

School to meet with His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins. Cardinal Collins was a very friendly and funny person. He taught us about why we should celebrate the education in our Catholic

Schools. He told us about how he went to Vatican City and the things the cardinals had to do for the election of a Pope. Also, one of the things we really liked about his speech was the gesture we make before the Gospel reading of the three crosses on the forehead (remember the word), mouth (speak the word), and heart (love the word). It is at this time that we remember the importance of our spiritual journey with God‟s help.

Confirmation 2013

On Friday April 19, 2013, the Grade Eight students in Mrs. Oko‟s and Ms. Paciejko‟s classes celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Martin of Tours Church. Confirmation is a once in a lifetime experience where confirmandi make a commitment to God and the Catholic Church.

During Confirmation, many things took place, including the laying on of hands and the blessing with

Chrism. Even though many students and sponsors may have been nervous, all went well. We also need to thank Mrs. Oko and Ms. Paciejko for helping us prepare for this special Sacrament the reunites us with God once again.
