It is already June and seems just yesterday you welcomed me to your community. What a wonderful year it has been. It has been a joy to see your wonderful children grow in their belief in God, their implementation of our Catholic values and in their academic endeavours. I thank you for all the encouragement and support you have given to en courage your children’s success. I would like to thank the dedicated staff. They make it wonderful to come to work every day. They truly work to offer the fullest education and most individ ual support to create a positive learning experience for each child. A special thank you to Mrs.Trigiani who holds us all together. The Catholic School Council and all the school vol unteers have truly added to spirit of the school. They have worked diligently as a team to fundraise and create community. It is appropriate that, through their efforts we end with a movie night to celebrate our community. Thank you to Father Joyson, Father Phillip and of fice secretary Elaine. Their spiritual leadership and presence have led us to become closer to our Catholic roots . To our trustees Peter Ferreira and earlier in the year Luz Rosario we also send thanks. Truly trustees make the difference, by their decisions in the strength of our Catholic School system. Finally, I wish our Grade 8 graduates all the best as they continue on to peruse their future. May the grounding , friendships and memories you have from St. Bernadette clothe you as you move forward. We challenge you to make a difference. The theme of the event was based on artwork from a graduate of Dufferin Peel titled Together We sparkle: One World Rooted in Ac ceptance and Love. The aim of the Festival was to offer modified physical activities for students and provide stu dents with positive, successful experiences in sport. Here is what our student participants thought of the day: “I went ot the Joe Sax activity day and I played basketball and soccer and hockey and bowling. We threw pool noodle javelins at targets. We played against another team from St. Mark’s. I saw the Iona dolphin mascot. I liked the weight room and I liked the scooter boards. We watched a video of activity days from other years at Iona. Tennis bowling is a game where you have 4 bottles and you throw the tennis ball at them. We saw Mr. Dolphin and we saw different schools. Then we had a good time. We got calculators, we had cheerleading in the gym and we went in the parachute. The parachute look like a house. Then we went to the lunchroom. It was so big. There was a cafeteria.
