INFORMATION/DISCUSSION/PRESENTATIONS
1.
Institution-Set Standards (first reading)
Brian Lofman
As a first reading, Dr. Lofman brought forth the Institution-Set Standards developed by a task force led by Dr.
Lofman, Dr. Kildal, and Carol Kimbrough. Dr. Lofman spoke about the process leading up the development of
the standards and stated that the conversations amongst members were robust. The standards are a result of
accreditation site visits and are aligned with the Chancellor’s Office. Cheryl O’Donnell and Dr. Ann Wright stated
that they believe that the standards should reflect what the college wants and a brief discussion ensued. The
task force looked at peer institutions and identified four measures: Course Completion, Student Retention,
Certificates, and Degrees. The standards were vetted and approved by the Academic Senate, Accreditation
Council, and Academic Affairs Council. Pending approval is the Student Affairs Council and College Planning
Council. Both will consider approval in January/February 2015. Dr. Lofman thanked the members of the task
force for their work and stated that he would like to see this work continue through the development a standing
