1. Report on the Status of SLO’s Development, Assessment, and all Results
Kathy Mendelsohn, Dean of Academic Affairs, with the assistance of Cheryl O’Donnell, faculty, delivered a
presentation on the meaning of student learning outcomes, program learning outcomes, core competencies,
service area outcomes, and recent data included in the first follow up report to the accrediting commission.
Those data reported were:
• 71% of offered courses were assessed in Fall 2013
• 50% of active courses have been assessed
• 50% of SAOs have been assessed
• 75% of programs have been assessed
• 100% of Core Competencies have been assessed
Kathy then spoke to the ways in which the assessments are carried out for student learning outcomes, program
learning outcomes, core competencies, and service area outcomes. She commended the faculty and staff for the
amount of work completed this year; that more needs to be done, but much was accomplished.

stated, the goal is to produce the annual report, focused on the previous academic year, by September of each
year. Also, he noted that next year’s report will align with the priorities within the strategic plan. In closing, he
noted the completion of this report aids the district in meeting an accreditation standard. He thanked Esmeralda
Montenegro, Director of Communications, for her contributions to the report.

contribute to the social, cultural, and economic vitality of our region and the global community.
Hartnell College Mission Statement: Focusing on the needs of the Salinas Valley, Hartnell College provides educational opportunities for students to

Decisions to further approve resource allocation requests depend on the budget. Dr. Ann Wright requested that
the CPC receive a listing of expenditures once determined. While commitments have been made for new faculty
positions for next year, no other personnel decisions can be made until the district has a better picture of the
budget.
4. Proposed 16 Week Semester Calendar
