Michigan's Defining Moment (MDM) is a multi-year effort to heighten public awareness of the significant challenges and opportunities Michigan faces, with a focus on a common ground agenda designed to help Michigan achieve a new era of sustainable prosperity. A Community Conversation is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 3 to 5 pm at the MCC Regional Technology Center, Room 1301. This event is free and open to the public, however reservations are appreciated. Those wishing to attend should RSVP by emailing Rebecca.Gale@mcc.edu or by calling (810) 762-0455. MCC faculty, staff and students are also invited to participate in the Community Conversation. Additional sessions are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17 from 10:30 am to 12 noon in RTC 1301 and from 1:30 to 2 pm in RTC 1301. Overflow room is RTC 1005. The community conversations are professionally facilitated dialogues designed to solicit residents' ideas and opinions on strategies and action steps to move the state forward. To date, more than 7,000 people – from business leaders to everyday citizens – have participated in the MDM campaign. Launched in 2007 by more than 100 statewide business, community and political leaders and funded by two dozen Michigan corporations and foundations, The Center for Michigan is a nonpartisan "think-and-do tank" founded by Phil Power. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, The Center for Michigan's objective is to assist our state through its current period of economic trouble; help develop and execute comprehensive, long-range and, in some cases, policy solutions to transform Michigan's business, economic, political and cultural climate.
