Dear Parents:
We are having a
great time with your
children and you! We
want to thank you for
being so consistent
with your child’s attendance—we know
that some days, getting your child and
yourself around and
on the road is a real
challenge. We are so
glad that you have
chosen to make your
child’s education a
priority in your busy
lives. We are pleased
to see each one of
you every day. Research suggests that
a parent’s positive
attitude toward
school will trickle
down to their children. You are to be
commended for your
efforts!
Recap of Three of October’s Family Activities
In the month of October we had
some exciting events take place
such as our 1st Family Advisory
Team curriculum vote for a Social/
Emotional Owl Babies Activity, a visit from the MCC Counseling and Student Development Division and the
GSRP Family Visit to the Farmers’
Market, just to name a few!

Outdoor Play
Outdoor play is important for children! They have a
chance to run, jump,
throw, swing, dig
and ride! They
breathe fresh air,
absorb vitamins
from the sun and
exercise their
heart, lungs and
muscles. They also
have an opportunity
experience nature
on our wonderful
wooded playground.
We will go outdoors
every day that the
wind chill is above
10 degrees, so
please be sure to
bring warm clothes,
including coats,
hats, gloves and
boots for your
child.
Thank you!
Snow Days
In the case of bad

Community Helpers Visit
On Wednesday, November 25 at 2:00PM
parents and children
are invited to meet
firefighters from Fire
Station #1 who will be
visiting with their fire
engine! Each preschool
child must have one
adult (parent/guardian
or parent appointed
adult) accompanying
him/her during the
visit. GSRP children
will be dismissed at
1:45 that day. Please
talk to your child
ahead of time about
the flashing lights and
the loud noises of the
horn and siren they will
experience so that
they know they are
safe.
Parent Notice of Program Measurement
MCC ECLC is required
to work with the Michigan Department of
Education (MDE) to
measure the effect of
the statewide Great
Start Readiness Program (GSRP). MDE
sometimes collects information about GSRP
staff, children and
families.
They do this in different ways and they
might:
 Ask parents questions about their
children and family
 Observe children in
the classroom
Measure what children know about letters, words and numbers.
All information from you
and about your child will
not be shared with others in any way that you
or your child could be
identified. It is protected by law.

MCC ECLC Water
MCC continues to monitor the
water safety here at the MCC
Early Childhood Learning Center in response to the situation with the Flint water. Bottled water is provided for children’s drinking water. In addition, through a generous donation of bottled water each
child will be able to be given
their “own” bottle of water
each day as supplies last!

GREEN ROOM NEWS!
Classroom Happenings
We have been working on fine motor skills, counting and creative arts. We also have been focusing on the social and emotional part of being in a classroom.
One of the favorite songs in our class right now is “Going on a
Bear Hunt.” By Greg & Steve. Ask your child about it.
Please be on the lookout for homework assignments. I have
already sent home the 1st (Classroom routine) and the 2nd
(Classroom rules). These are activities for you and your
child to read together and keep at home. There are mailboxes across from the office that you can put future
homework assignments in when they need to be returned.
(We are the Green room.)
Reminders
Reminder:
The weather is changing and getting colder. Please be thinking about sending hats, gloves and a warm coat. We go outside every day. (Unless it is raining or the temperature drops
too low.)
