The eighth meeting of the 12th senate was called to order at 5:00 pm on October 15, 2013. There were 25 out of 33 senators present. There was a motion to approve last week’s minutes. Passed. Officer Reports President Keyana Boka Tonight is our big Safe Ride promotion. The first 800 students will get a free cuzie. We will be having a 30 second commercial and a question and answer session. University food committee met last week, it was very successful. Thank you for all of those who came to Picnic with the President. At the homecoming game, we will have SGA members and alumni recognition at halftime and an SGA tent. Executive Vice President Mark Reeves We are going to get out the final invites for Dine with Decision Makers which is November 21st. Thursday university senate will be meeting. At the Diversity Enhancement meeting most of what was talked about pertained to faculty and staff issues. If you are concerned about any issues in this meeting, just talk to me. Administrative Vice President Nicki Seay Our first OrgAid bill up for first read and so is the ID voucher bill. The budget report will be coming out October 29th. We will be meeting at four thirty as usual. And we will be meeting the 31st instead of the 30th. Speaker of the Senate Paige Settles Chris Costa filled in as speaker for the meeting. Committee head meetings will resume next week. Staff Reports Chief of Staff Brad Cockrel Apologizes for not being able to be at senate. Director of Public Relations Laura Harper I have posted homecoming poster around campus. Director of Academic Affairs Hannah Garland Could not be at senate. Still working on the Society of Distinguished Graduates. Application will be up on the website soon. Director of Information and Technology Sara Hazelip Was not here. Updating the website. Committee Reports Academic Affairs Megan Skaggs Deadlines for both scholarships are this Friday. Campus Improvements This will be my last week. I will be back in January. Unfinished Business Resolution 3-13-F was passed with 1 abstention. The bylaws were suspended and bill 2-13-F was moved into unfinished business. Author’s speech: This program is about a month behind where it was last year. Voucher for $10. We have allocated $500 to this program. It is for people who have lost their ID for the first time.
