Funding for the “Racial and Cultural Diversity within WKU’s Greek
System” Event.
PURPOSE:
For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University
to allocate $100.00 for the “Racial and Cultural Diversity within WKU’s
Greek System” event.
WHEREAS:
It is organized by a group of students from the Western Kentucky
University Institute of Citizenship and Social Responsibility’s Public
Achievement class. The event is due to their class project challenge to
address an issue they see on campus, and
WHEREAS:
The event’s purpose is to create awareness about the racial and cultural
differences within Western Kentucky University’s Greek System. The
Western Kentucky University Pan-Hellenic Council as well as two
representatives from each campus sorority and fraternity will be present,
and all Western Kentucky University students are welcome to attend. This
interaction seeks to bridge the racial gap by forming more unity as a Greek
System on Western Kentucky University’s campus, and
WHEREAS:
The event will be held on April 28, 2012 between 10am and 2pm at
Covington Woods Park, 1044 Covington Avenue Bowling Green, KY
42101, and
WHEREAS:
The funds will cover the $15 park reservation fee, event activities,
advertising, supplies, and refreshments, and
WHEREAS:
Our Student Government Association logo will be listed as a sponsor to
the event. Such support will increase our public relations outreach to the
Institute of Citizenship and Social Responsibility as well as the Greek
system at Western Kentucky, and
WHEREAS:
The students planning the event have not received previous funding from
the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University.
THEREFORE:
Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western
Kentucky University allocates $100.00 from General Senate funding for
the “Racial and Cultural Diversity within WKU’s Greek System” event.
