However, the Executive Cabinet vetoed it on the grounds that the event is no longer being held. Bill 2-11-F. Funding for the WKU Danceathon “RAGE” on February 11, 2011 PURPOSE: For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University to allocate $2000 as funding for the WKU Danceathon “RAGE” this spring semester. WHEREAS: The money will come from general senate funding, and WHEREAS: The event will be from noon on February 11, 2011 to midnight in E.A. Diddle Arena, and WHEREAS: The funding will be used to cover the wages of the personnel necessary for the event including two police officers, an EMT, maintenance/custodial staff, one WKU Events staff member, and media/sound worker, and WHEREAS: This is the first year Western Kentucky University is hosting this event, and it will be an annual event, and WHEREAS: The Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University with the allocated funds would be considered a sponsor for the event and the SGA logo would appear on posters, fliers, the website, the Facebook page, Twitter and tshirts, and WHEREAS: The event is a fundraiser for the pediatric oncology unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital which is located in Louisville and has an outpatient center in Bowling Green, and WHEREAS: “RAGE” will run from noon-midnight and participants will stand all twelve hours and do a ten minute choreographed dance every hour on the, and WHEREAS: The choreographed dance will be taught in the first hour of “RAGE,” and WHEREAS: Students and Faculty of Western Kentucky University will be allowed to submit a team of ten or more people. Each person must pay $5.00 to participate, and WHEREAS: This event is reaching out to the community, inviting everyone to watch throughout the twelve hours. THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University will allocate $2000 as funding for the WKU Danceathon “RAGE” this spring semester.
