First Reading: Second Reading: Pass: Other: September 6, 2011 September 13, 2011 Resolution 1-11-F Resolution to Support the Tobacco Ban Under the Stipulation That the Two Year Requirement to Live on Campus is Eliminated at Western Kentucky University PURPOSE: For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University to support the Tobacco Ban on campus only when the requirement to live on campus for two years is eliminated. WHEREAS: It is unfair to impose a tobacco ban when students are required to live on campus for two years, and WHEREAS: Imposing a tobacco ban while requiring students to live on campus is unrealistic, and WHEREAS: Before a campus wide tobacco ban goes into effect, the current limitations for using tobacco, such as smoking 30 feet from an entrance need to be better enforced, and WHEREAS: Should the campus wide tobacco ban pass, all ash trays would need to be removed from campus, and WHEREAS: It is the responsibility of the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University to respond to the students’ voice. THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University support the Tobacco Ban on campus only when the requirement to live on campus for two years is eliminated.
