Resolution to Support the Addition of Benches at Bus Stations
PURPOSE:
For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University to
officially support the placement of benches at bus stations that do not already have
them to assist in improving the quality of life for those temporarily or permanently
handicapped.
WHEREAS:
Some students at Western Kentucky University are permanently handicapped, and
WHEREAS:
Other students at Western Kentucky University will be temporarily handicapped in
such a way that necessitates the use of crutches, and
WHEREAS:
Many bus stations such as the newly-constructed stop near College Heights Hall
(COHH) do not have benches that these students can sit on while waiting for the bus,
and
WHEREAS:
This places an unnecessary burden on those students who suffer pain and hardship by
being forced to stand, and
WHEREAS:
According to Director of Parking and Transportation Jennifer Tougas a bus-station
quality bench can be purchased for a relatively small amount of money, and
THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky
University supports the placement of benches at bus stations that do not already have
them to assist in improving the quality of life for those temporarily or permanently
handicapped.
