Funding for Posters to Advertise a Cosponsored Movie Showing of Bamboozled
and the Forum “Dear White People/Dear Black People: Life and Race on the
Hill”
PURPOSE:
For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University to
allocate $64.30 in funding for posters to advertise the cosponsored events of
Bamboozled and the forum “Dear White People/Dear Black People: Life and
Race on the Hill”.
WHEREAS: MyCampusToo is an initiative to promote WKU Student Government Association
(SGA) among underrepresented minority groups and international students to
strengthen the diversity and inclusion at WKU, and
WHEREAS: Black History month is celebrated in the United States throughout the month of
February and MyCampusToo seeks to partner with the studies of African
American Life and History (ASALH) to bring recognition to this
month to spread diversity around campus, and
WHEREAS: The movie showing of Bamboozled and the forum “Dear White People/Dear
Black People: Life and Race on the Hill” will be cosponsored by SGA and
ASALH to start discussion about what the atmosphere is like on WKU’s campus
for African Americans, and
WHEREAS: The showing of Bamboozled will be held in Cherry Hall, Room 227 on
February 17, 2016, and
WHEREAS: The forum will take place in the SGA Chambers on February 24th, 2016, and
WHEREAS: The expenses for these events will include one hundred posters, fifty for each
event, to advertise both Bamboozled and the forum “Dear White People/Dear
Black People: Life and Race on the Hill” which will cost $64.30, and
WHEREAS: WKU SGA will allocate $64.30 from Senate discretionary funding to cover the
cost of the posters.
THEREFORE:
Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western
Kentucky University will allocate $64.30 in funding for the posters for the
cosponsored events of Bamboozled and the forum “Dear White
People/Dear Black People: Life and Race on the Hill”
